Default LoD CD not finding Diablo II install

So I downloaded Diablo II from the Blizzard site, paid for it and all that. The install was fine, but when I tried to install LoD from a CD, it tells me "You must install Diablo II before installing Diablo II : Lord of Destruction." Is there any way to work around this? I've seen other people post about the same problem on other sites, but there haven't been any useful answers anywhere. Reinstalling won't work, and buying another copy of LoD isn't going to happen.

Default Solution, LONG but works....

Ok so I had the same problem. I bought D2 online but i already had a CD copy of LOD so I just bought D2 and ran into same problem when I tried to install LOD after downloaded D2 install. Heres the solution I found:

1. Go to your blizzard account where you purchased and downloaded D2 Original.
2. Click Games, Add Game, and enter your LOD CD key.
3. Download the LOD installer from your blizzard account, like what you did for D2 original.
4. Run the D2 installer that you downloaded, followed by the LOD installer that you downloaded. Note that you must use the GAME CODES not the Original CD keys when it prompts your for your 26 character key.
5. You should be good to go.

What I think is happening is that your LOD disc has an old version of LOD probably .08 or .09. The downloaded version of D2 is the newest patch 1.12, so LOD disc doesnt recognize that version of D2 and therefore thinks its not installed. Its kinda a pain and takes forever to get the downloads for D2 and LOD, but it worked for me. Hopefully that works for you
