the only difference is if you die you die. the game itself (as in monsters amount of hp or damage dealt) is exactly the same as SC.

if the game is more difficult for you to complete without getting killed is another thing ;)

so basically gameplay itself is like normal but there is no body reccovery when you die, just stuck starting over in the rogue camp

another obvious thing is that you'll be bestowed different honorifics from softcore characters..

upon completion;
Normal Difficulty: Destroyer
Nightmare Difficulty: Conqueror
Hell Difficulty: Guardian

That and if you play in public there are pkers which you have to watch out for more.

I find the people in hc to be a little more nicer when it comes to your health since you don't come back--they watch out for you a little more. if you find the right people that is

If you die the only thing you can recover is the items you have on your character not your stash or inventory but what you character is wearing. Which you can do by the button loot in the game. If you don't loot then no one can get your stuff for you.

Good luck in your gaming all.:)

personally I don't understand the whole idea of hardcore. I mean I know the difference, which I won't repeat as someone else already did. What I don't get is the thought process behind why you'd make a character who is basically, mortal. No matter what you don't want to die, but on hardcore you can't afford to. Plus there are no benefits except that you can brag that you're totally a god among insects since you've never died. But you can never die on normal and still brag about it. You just can't expect people to believe you since you can't prove it.

Oh you can prove it, and i believe i made this post a few months ago, The whole point of hardcore is to get high lvl as you can, obv without dieing. You get to say lvl 90 is one hell of an accomplishment. and you can prove it with a simple screenshot easily. What you get out of it is a great challenge to go "all the way" again without a single death.
That would be somethign to brag about.

Actually...I really prefer that Hardcore mode have few bonus or benefit such as double exp, drop rate and etc compare to Normal Mode instead you just got some title such as "I never die in the game..I am Uber !" ...

imo, getting thru hardcore especially untwinked is worthy enough to be considered uber..
no dependency on leet items, it's a test on your gameplay..

google superdave, read up on his passive zon's exploits. and then there are others who reached lvl99 (in sp), completed self-found grail, 30++ guardians... all in HC. respect =)

Hardcore is a good way to show that you can really beat the game. Getting past Duriel becomes a HUGE accomplishment. Here is somthing to try, check out the Hardcore contest in the contest thread. Read the rules and go for it. See how high you can get. I thought that game was a blast and I had a ton of fun doing it. If you die, oh well, you dont really loose any good gear or build, because it is just a cheap build.

Give it a go, it's a great way to see about going hardcore.
