Not a build guide, but a build question.

I understand what to max first, all the light synergies in the trap tree and all. Put points in SD up to fade and SM, fade as the main buff and SM as your spare tank.

I have two questions: One, which merc should I go for? I'm thinking another tank would be good but I don't know which A2 merc to go for, or if an A5 barb would be better, for the aura. Two, what should I put points in after the light syns are maxed? Claw-block, fade, Shadow master, or what? I'm hoping for this char to be hell viable without an infinity to break light immunes, so maybe some claw mastery, or venom? Any suggestions would be grand :D

Also, any suggestions for what to look for in gear (untwinked) would be great. Like what mods and such.

When in doubt, use a holy freeze merc. He'll make some corpses shatter, but it won't make a particularly big difference.

Dump extra points into fire blast to help out with LI's. Between fire blast, your merc and death sentry, they shouldn't pose too much of a problem. The 1-pt wonders of course are mindblast and cloak of shadows.

You should be able to shop some decent claws, look for +LS or +traps every time you talk to a vendor who can sell claws.


The last trapper I built I used to start out a season, she got through hell fine untwinked, using 2x +3 traps claws (one of which was 2x shael'd), lore, smoke and some other junk.

Alright, holy freeze it is then. Makes sense, just slows down the baddies so my traps can kill them more effectively.

So should I wait until my light syns are maxed before I put points in fire blast, or just make sure I have a few extra in there before I hit hell?

Any idea what ilvl +3 to traps starts to show up? Because I know that +skills stuff is really common in like NM Kurast, and I bought alot of stuff for my nec then... So when's the best time to buy +3 traps claws?

I have the runes for Smoke, but I'm saving the Lum for a Beast (ages away from the rest of the runes needed) so would I be able to wait until like late NM to get that? You just used that for resists and high def, yeah?

+3 tree is alvl 60.

lolz... yeah, put some into fireblast before you hit hell... You'll want it to be good at killing by act 2, because of all those lightning beetle ****heads. And yeah, smoke was just for the resistances.


Also, for the record, you need clvl74 (ilvl 80) to shop +3 traps GT's. You can find +3 traps on other claws at lower levels, depending on their qlvl (+3 traps on BT's requires clvl 64, +3 traps on katars requires clvl 54).
