I have a summoner I am working. Which helm would be better I have Guillames face and Crown of thieves. Other gear the merc is using at the moment is Insight, and duress.

crown of thieves. you need to have lifeleech on him to prolong his life =)

I had used it for a while. Then when I found Guillames switched to it. So far the life has remained the same. But will continue to test, between the two. Also thanks for the response. That is the helm I figured would work best, but testing will continue.

Yeah Crown of theives, but if you find one Andarield's Visage with a ral rune socketed in it will be better.
insight for a summoner?????

Tal rasha's helm, crowns of theives or andariel's mask are you best choices.

I'm a bigger fan of Guillaume's since when you start out every game you have you merc and your golem...and the faster your merc kills, the better.
Tal's mask and Andariel's are both fine, too.

Guillame's. Biggest difference in the damage output between your merc and your skeletons is his access to CB gear.
Plus, you can always throw a Life Tap out if he needs some life restored. And that will return far more than any leech on his helm might.

Crown of Thieves. The life leech will be very nice in hell. Casting life tap everytime your merc loses health will get annoying and sometimes you just won't be fast enough. The CB won't really matter aslong the weapon is doing decent damage. Assuming you're using a might merc and amping, that won't be hard. Plus, once a couple enemies are dead you should be CEing anyway.

Another option may be to obtain life leech from other gear. Since he is using Duress I'd probably keep that with the Guill's to get 50% CB. Bonehew is a good option for a weapon which has 2os. It could be socketted with Shael for IAS and Amn for LL. Bonehew is not expensive and fairly easy to obtain.

That might be true for normal monsters but CB on your merc is really nice for killing bosses. Otherwise it can take quite a while till hell baal is dead (at least if you don't have beast and a merc with pride or infinity).

Will if you're going to be running bosses with a summoner(which I wouldn't recommend.) then yes Guillames face would be the better choice. If you are going to be running areas like the pits, river, trav, etc.(where a summoner really shines.) then go for LL.

Yeah, I find summoners to be more area runners than boss runners...I think hdins and sorcs do a better job of it strictly because they go straight to the boss.

I find Vampire Gaze works quite well on the Merc. DR and Life Leech are a nice combo.

i do boss runs with my necro, and he kills faster than the hammerdin or sorcs, combined. 12 warriors, 6 magi (cold and poison), 12 revive (mostly urdars), iron golem of infinity (crazy/expensive, but very worth it) + might merc + pride + beast + enigma + call to arms. i can do the ubers faster than most builds, even without my revives.
Yes I did use Infinity for my Iron Golem:

check those stats too, im in hell, if my anni and torch would have been perfect i would be completely immune from elemental damage.
last time i checked my skeleton warriors were doing 2K average damage (before using amp damage), per swing, per skeleton (12)

Doesn't Iron Golem go away after a certain amount of games or so? I'm just not sure if they act like mercs and stay with you until they die.
And technically it took longer. Summoners require crazy preparation. A sorc or hdin just have to BO and go. ._.;;

I would prefer Guillames face because CB can deal more damage.
Kill faster, survive longer, don't tank for too long. Be a tank that can kill fast. ;)

I dunno, I'm just always skeptical about using expensive things for Iron Golem, but again, I don't know all there is to know about it. I'm just paranoid it won't show up one game.

well u dont have to use expensive items, a 5os items with the right runes will suffice.
i make my army in pidle's garden, much faster than you think.

Yes, but does Iron Golem stay with you over multiple games until it dies or is it like the other golems where they disappear after you leave the game?

it stays with you. which is why i prefer it over other golems. you can make it with anything, and it stays with you.
6os Metal item with certain runes can give you:
leech life, crushing blow, ignore target defense, ect. think of the possibilities.

Permanently though?
Like...say you don't log on for a month or so...(As is usually my case.)
I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I just want all the details before I do something like that.

yeah it will stay with you until you die, it dies, or your character is deleted. or you "accidently" make another golem . . . . damn hotkeys and scroll button .....

Heh...I make sure to have only one golem on a hotkey at a time.

WOW hijacked. But that is ok. So what I gather is that Crown is better than Guillames got it. Thanks. Although lets keep this thread going.
