Paladin for pvm definately and whatever build your comfortable with in pvp. Every build can do well if played correctly and with good strategies.

The best character is the one you really enjoy playing and have the most fun with. Character class, in my opinion, is a far, far distant second to enjoyability.

If you have fun with an archer, then go for it. Or if summons or shape changing are your thing and you enjoy it, that's the one. Or being a powerhouse, a one-hit wonder, or a magic finding person, then that's what makes you happy.

That's just my view.

and that's a stupid question asked a thousand times. there is no "best" character. Hammerdin is the easiest because the lack of immunites as well as Summoner, but it says nothing. A light sorc can be as much as good with a strong Merc, along with any other class.

so my answer will have to be...

My favrite character is Flavie - the bird who gurads the cold plains.

She is so wise.

in fact iv changed my mind.

The best is the Barb who is roasting the chicken over the fire in Harrogath :D

The barb is nice but my favorite stupid *** NPC is the guard that guards the palace in A2.. "you may not pass". LOL hell I may.

Sorces are probably my favourite. They're the easiest to MF with, and pretty decent for dueling as well.

However, the game is balanced, and no class completely dominated another.

i guess best chars are the ones you play in a non-standard way - so any class is good but it's best played with a build that's original and interesting (meaning challenging), yet viable (doh!). So for me it's more about specific builds, not classes in general because you can't say that one is better than other. and it also depends what's the char for. mf? having fun? playing at night without thinking? ubers? and whatnot. :)

the simple answer to threads like this is that there is never a best character/class for everything. some classes are good at 1 thing while others is good at something else.

I can only speak from personal experience as everyone is different. I've tried every character class except Assassin. I generally prefer melee characters and like a fast paced game where I control the action as opposed to letting my minions do the work. The one character class that I have had the most fun is the Druid. There are several different types of characters you can build within the druid class. Elemental based Druids like Fire druids and Windy's. Shapeshifter Druids both Werewolf and Werebear. Summon Druids (Towners) who raise wolves, a grizzly, ravens, a spirit and various vines. I've tried a couple different builds within the SS Druid Class including Fury/Rabies Werewolf, a Maul/Hunger/Shockwave Werebear. I've made a Hunter Firementalist, a Windy and a straight Summoner however my favorite of all are hybrids. I've combined skills from the SS tree and Summon tree to create a very powerful Summon/Werebear build that is incredibly powerful and able to handle any of the obstacles that the game creates.
I know, not a direct answer to your question but, I hope you liked the viewpoint anyways.:)

I feel the best char is...the NPC barbs that are in the frigid highlands place one cuz u can bo them and 2 cuz they take on ur aura :) oh and 3 cuz they need saveing later on :)
