High Runes are drops too, so yes you can get hrunes from bosses.

Yea, that's an idea...

But then the items are not legit, which defeats the purpose of playing the game legit-like.

Don't get me wrong, I have a cheat file on my single player off-line, but also I have legit players. While cheating is fun, it's not as fun as using legit characters.

best place to get runes is to run LK chests and countess. Also council in travincial act 3 has some decent rune drops.

Hr's never have a good drop chance. They are around 1 : 10 million in hell on average, at least for the last one, zod. A hell bovine (cow lvl) have around 1 : 41 million to drop a zon in a 1 player game.

The absolutely best way, is to not think about them and manage without.. I can reach 200% fcr on my sorc without high end runewords.. and the javazon can solo hell as easy as you breathe.

Just manage without and use uniques and lower runewords.

And for the sake of lemmy kilminster, if you find one, KEEP IT!

I totally agree.

There is so much variety of items and gear that there is no real need for the maximum best stuff, although if you have it, it is nice, but not 100% necessary.

if you get a good map with 2 bon fires in lower kurast you have 6 chests to open that can drop some decent runes and it doesnt take but maybe a minute to hit all the chests.
other than that just keep all the runes u find and cube them up.

Also, if no one has mentioned this, you can do the Hellforge quest on Hell difficulty and there will be an equal chance of the forge dropping runes from Hel-Gul.

Been said basically, but I have found a Vex rune off a Pit Lord (might've been a unique one) in the River of Flame (was heading for HellForge) in Single Player.


But yeah, Bosses, Countess, and the HellForge (Normal-Nightmare) are good for high Medium-High Runes.

ok lets see if u want hrs i would say making a lighning sors if ur poor and start at tower for runes at her and then do pindle and those other 2 boss at act5 u should be able of doing it pretty fast enough either with a lighning sors or a hdin merce is needed if u are a sors as tank gl everyone

I knabbed me a HoZ from Hell Countess back when i had like no gear at all. It made my day =D.

And to not spam the thread, Hell and NM Andy yield fair drops, i usually run Hell Andy, Meph, Council, Pindle, and Ball in one MF run on my Hdin and I get decent drops as well as gold to gamble with.

You can get some pieces from the IK set in NM. Probably not the armor or maul, but you can definitely happen upon the others. I recall finding an IK helm early in ladder while I was in A5 NM.

Runes are something different than magic, set and unique items, which magic find does affect.

Your OP wasn't really specific as to how you wanted to obtain them. I just started back up not too long ago but one of the first things I did was build a PVM Smiter. I MF keys in order to find organ sets. Then I either trade the organ sets or do uber trist to get unid torches to trade. Quickest way IMO if you want to trade for them rather than find them yourself.

Just do Lower Kurast runs. You can Get them pretty much easily with a lot of people in your game '' 8 ''. So what you wanna do is get into a chaos / baal run and party with them. Then sneak in Lower Kurast and kill the most you can and when the run is over for New game just follow them and repeat. Thats how I personally got over 30 Hrs less then a week.

To be honest runes seem random enough that you are bound to find what you are looking for eventually just by playing through each area, assuming you go back and visit earlier zones in hell (instead of just hitting bosses and re-creating).

Having said that, I do have a personal route that I take for times when I go "runehunting" that seems to work out well.

Start out in Act3-Lower Kurast and hit all the chests you can.
--->Travincal-Kill council.
--->Durance of Hate-Inner council+mephisto.
--->River of Flame-Hellforge Guardian "elite" (I can't remember his name).
--->Act1-Black Marsh-Tower-Countess chest run.
--->Act1-Monastary-Andy run (if you feel like it).
--->Act5-Nilhathak/Pindle (if you feel like it).

Repeat as necessary.

The best I ever managed to pull off was 1 Zod rune from Pindle about a year ago. Though I've never managed to find a 2nd.

Nightmare Andy runs are actually very good for drops. Also not everyone is strong enough to do the runs in hell all the time so nightmare is a good place to do runs that you can actually complete withoud dying off constantly.
