To make a colossus blade into one that i can use for my barbarian with breath of the dying,

First, do i need to find a superior colossus blade then have it socketed and hope it comes out with six sockets? What other ways are there to start of and end with a six socketed sword?

Then start putting in the runes as i get them or wait till i have them all?

Thanks in advance.

socketing is random, but the higher your character level the better chance you have of getting the sockets you need. dont use any of the runes till you have them all. they have to be put in the item in the correct order.

If you use your Larzuk quest, you will get the maximum number of sockets for this weapon which is 6. Don't try and cube it unless you want less than 6.

Secondly you can't cube socket superior weapons. The recipe only works on normal items.

You can add the runes gradually as long as they are in the correct order. For instance you can add Vex + Hel + El + Eld for now while you wait to acquire a Zod rune. Don't add the Eth though as it will be out of order.

this is correct and also your lvl doesnt matter when adding socets

then why did i only get 2 sockets on a normal item that can have 6? i was trying to get sockets for a runeword, and it gave me 2, when the weapon can have 6.

fail

Normal items add the max number of Sockets depending on the item's level (this is determined by the level of the monster that dropped it) and the inherent maximum number of Sockets for the item's base type. So you may not always receive the "max" number of Sockets.

Yep Belhemel is on point. You get the max number of sockets for that item's level. So you do get the max sockets but the level of the item does matter.

i think safetypro's referring the 6 sockets to the colossus blade. the weapon itself has a high qlvl. so when you find it, the weapon will always have high enough ilvl to get 6 sockets from larzuk. unless it's inferior and normalized thru the cubed ofc.
