[Omnicide]

Introduction
If you're like me, you're probably tired of the fact that your build will constantly come under fire from purely BM builds in the masses of pubs on Bnet. Well, after noticing a clan that lacks in what it calls "GM" dueling, I decided to make my own using the GM rules that are widely established, and maybe debatable as we get members who can prove otherwise. Anyway, that's all for an introduction, let's get to the good stuff.


I. Location

We will be located in the USWest Realm and will start off in Non-Ladder. We'll see where it goes from there as far as growth.

You can find us in channel Op Obv-. No Obv- is not our clan name, it is a placeholder as this is not a clan, it is a group of people with the same views of dueling in mind.

II. Members

III. GM Dueling

The main focus of this group is to promote an environment for GM (good mannered) dueling. It's a sort of haven from the masses of hacks and pub builds that so many people despise.

I will provide a short, simple list for now. But I do plan on making an extensive list, as well as giving reasons why something is BM (bad manners) in a range of duels. What you see here at this moment are purely the basics.

No NKing (Killing someone that has already died and are, therefore, naked and getting their body.)
No Town Guarding/Camping (Using any spells on players before you leave town, or using a spell right outside of town and quickly returning to safety.)
No jumping other players during their duel or before they acknowledge dueling you.
No pre-buffing. The only buffs allowed will be what's on your character at the moment they will duel.
No overabsorb. One piece of absorb OR one piece increasing max resist is allowed during the duel.
Hacks/Dueling Mods/Any program that isn't Diablo 2: LoD. This should be self-explanatory.

IV. Common Courtesies

There are certain Dos and Don'ts with dueling. This is the same everywhere. To make sure everyone has a positive experience with this group I'll add some of those courtesies here.

Before dueling, always establish just what you two will use as far as rules, type of duel and what would be BM or not. This helps cut down on any confusion if someone does, in fact, break the rules.

Set yourselves up about a screen outside of town and about a screen apart. The longest acceptable is at least having them on the minimap.

The duel doesn't start until both players say "Go". This is to ensure that both players are ready to duel. Starting in to kill someone right after you say go without a response is BM, and will warrant an infraction.

After said duel, both players say "Good duel", "Good game", "GD", "GG" or any other variation. This ends the duel on a somewhat positive note as there is not supposed to be any hostility between you two, it's just a friendly duel. A little jest is alright as long as it's not outright insulting someone's ability or their build. Too much harassment like this will also warrant an infraction.

Using these general rules we can keep confusion to a minimum and keep the atmosphere somewhat good natured.

V. Hierarchy of Power

There is no "leader" to this group. Just because I'm trying to start one doesn't make me all powerful. However I will say that I put my trust in certain people more than others, this doesn't mean they get special bonuses or anything, as I don't get any either. In fact...the person with the most power will be Joe...as he owns the bot to Op Obv-.

Keep in mind that if there are constant infractions of anyone going against our GM code, you will be banned from the group and forced to duel where you belong...in the pubs. I may not be leader, but I plan on keeping this dueling environment positive.

VI. How to Join

It's pretty simple, really, just post here or PM me with your wish to join and that's it. For simplicity's sake I ask that you use this template:

VII. Have Fun

That's really what this group is about. GM provides nice, fair dueling without any glaring advantages that would make it so one build owns all others. However, I should admit that this group isn't just for GM. There are cases where BM is allowed. BM isn't normally fun unless it's agreed upon by the two, or more, people in the duel. In this aspect, you can still use certain gear you wish to use and still be GM when you want. As long as you don't use that BM gear in GM situations...you're at no risk.

Actually...instead of me forming a punishment system...what do you guys think would be fair?

I originally thought sort of like a system where so many infractions would get you a warning, another set would get you a temporary "suspension" and then a certain other limit would be the ban. Any ideas?

Yeah, I have yet to find the cd key I used on the other computer for the bot. Though once I find it, I can pretty much leave it up 24 hours.

EDIT: Well... that and some of the guys think we should use a different channel name so I'm also waiting for the final decision before giving the bot the name. O_o

Even if the name is taken, I want this group to be known as "Haven". Does that sound alright to you guys?

Also since no one has any word on the punishment deal...I've settled for this:

1st Infraction=Nothing
2nd Infraction=Warning
3rd Infraction=Warning plus suspension from any activities within the group.
4th Infraction=Temp ban for a given amount of time. A week or more depending on the severity. (I'll mark their names with Probation or something like that)
5th Infraction=Goodbye for good.

Obviously there will be cases where a severe infraction will go straight to stricter punishments.

Anyone have opinions on this they'd like to add?

If somebody gets a bot working, the clan system has those types of ranks (Sergeant, Lieutenant, Private, etc.) but depending on the rank it gives the higher ranks more control over the bot.
