I just realized, is it true that not all RWs can be made in SP? omG if so, then how can my meteorber alive without spirit T_T

While im at it, what will my sorc wear?

realms runewords can be made available thru the runeword mod (RWM).

and, should you wish to interact (ie trade/mp) with other Single Players, do inform them of the mods you're playing with as well =)

If you so decide not to use RWM, just items such as Lidless and Frosts to boost your mana.

One more thing, How do I know that those 2 mods work? I have tried and it doesnt show a sign of success or a sign of failure so I dont know if it actually worked.

find runes. if you're using the rrm as well, it should be red. then, find a 4 socket sword or a 4 socket polearm/staff and make either a spirit or insight as those runes are quite easily obtained.

if fail, troubleshoot. reread the installation guide again.. =)

I'd suggest to make a backup before making an expensive RW and to find out if the mod is working just make a really cheap one.

i'd consider making/restoring back-ups as duping... quite frowned upon =)

to test, run countess for those runes.

make these cheap runewords to test..

edge : tir/tal/amn
spirit : tal/thul/ort/amn
insight : ral/tir/tal/sol

That's the most insane thing I've ever heard. Making backups is not generally frowned upon. In fact its generally considered an excellent idea, but only to protect against data loss/corruption.

Granted, as afar RRM/RWM go, it would be simpler and less questionable to simply test with the cheap items above.

Well I backup my D2 Save folder from time to time in case my computer crashes or whatever else can happen that you lose your data (not that it ever happened to me but you never know).

Sure you could use backups to dupe items but that doesn't mean that you're doing it. Those ppl that want to dupe their items will do it but that has nothing to do with making a backup. And if I should ever find a HR like ber I'll probably make a backup first before using it. If something goes wrong who knows how long it'd take me to find another one (if ever I'd find another one). So better be certain than to lose your HR due to some malfunction.

jjscud, this forum isn't as well setup as diabloii is. We don't have any active moderators right now that participate, and we are a small pool of players.

hmm.. maybe i was being vague. what i meant actually was backing-up the character before testing out the runes and then restoring them after the runewords failed. that was what i meant by duping.

i've no problems with just backing-up characters =)

Opps, my bad then. I lost a boatload of stuff about 8 months ago when my laptop was stolen so I probably react too quickly when I see anything that sounds vaguely against backing up. (Sadly, I did have a current backup but it was in another pocket in the backpack.)

If you overwrite the current file/folder with the back-up file/folder without removing anything from the current one, can you tell me exactly what is duped?

CLARIFICATION: I'm saying a one off situation where you are checking to see whether rwm is working, not continual reloading back-ups until you get the result you want, that's duping.

EDIT: btw, wait for the other (thyiad) step-by-step installation guide to get back up then. i believe hers is more concise and pretty easy to follow.

if you wish, send me a PM of your email and i can send you a zip file containing the two mod files already altered according to the guide. you can just unzip them into your diablo II folder and just change the shortcut link. should be simple enough.

Anyway, the npcs (charsi, malah etc) now dont have a voice when they talk to me, its just silence. Is that the result of the mod?

i make these rune words in sp with rune word mod and i use Hel+Tp scroll horadric cube recipe to reroll them till they have fairly high stats (Perfect or Close to Perfect) i use a dropmod to find the runes needed easier especially the HRS (High Runes Mal and above)

why you use dropmod? try to find them on a legit way.

Had something new happen to ME probably has happened before to many but, atma recognized my Insight I made but it didn't have any of the bonuses just the base properties of the runes used. I am using RWM but may have installed it incorrectly. Really weird....It even said Insight at the top. Any advice would be great, Thanks:)

turn of the client, check your diablo icon if you have writen right were you find the mod, and go to your diablo folder take the mod folder out on the desktop and in the folder again.

it worked when i did that.

why you use dropmod? try to find them on a legit way.

i also get my runes mal-zod buy cubing the lower runes that i get from the countess this is my main way of getting high runes cause i do not always like using dropmod due to the fact that to use it i need to put a modified patch_d2.mpq file in my diablo 2 folder and then replace it with the real patch_d2.mpq file before i get on closed b-net which requires shutting down the
game and restarting it so i mainly cube runes to get hrs to avoid the pain of changing patches to use the dropmod

and with text mods they only run from a shortcut that is modified with -direct -txt in the properties

meh. dropmod = cheating.

and cubing countess runes to zod? right....

you need like around 1024 ists to cube a zod. and considering the chances to the countess dropping an ist is like 1:1000+. runes higher than ist (up to Lo) is even rarer.

oh sorry, i was thinking on when i did it lol. i turned of diablo when i found out my insight didn't work.
but drag the 'data' folder out and in of the d2 folder and it should work.

omG i finally have 4 soc broad sword and the runes to make spirit, however the mod doesnt work..........anyone got a VERY EASY step by step explanation....sorry about this y'all =)

Anyway, It seems like i can only use 1 mod, either the runewords mod or the red runes mod. How do u use them bot so i can , at the same time, make ladder runewords and alos see runes with red colors? What do i put in " Start In:"?
