Trying to decide which build to do, first time playing D2, I failed my first sorc going blizzard + useless chain lightning...So I'm rerolling.
Can't decide on which of those, I'm looking for one thats going to be able to solo bosses, rush hell and mf....I've got a friend who seems to think near maxed synergied Blizzard with firewall for cold immunes is the best build, but I also know trapping meph and either meteor/blizzard is easy as pie, the only problem with doh3 is maybe agroing the rare mobs...I also know Orb owns PvM, and it doesnt require many synergies.
Which build would be the best all around for what I want, and for either one, how many pts should I put into synergies and masteries?
Thanks

Blizzballer, with a decent merc. Check Wallenbergs guide.

blizzballer is a horrible build, i dont want it, i was asking either blizzard + firewall(has no synergies, will be far superior to fireball with ****ty synergies) or meteor + orb

no doubt that blizzard/firewall build is pretty decent, but it takes some experience when dealing with firewall and cold immunes.
the thing about meteorb/blizzballer is that there is a combination of spammable (fcr dependent) and non-spammable skills (timered). therefore, you can cast a timered skill (ie blizzard/meteor/fo) followed by some spam skills (fireball).
so, advantage of the meteorb/blizzballer here is that you'll constantly be active in dealing out damage while for blizz/wall build, there will be short periods of time when you have to wait for your skills to cool down. hence, it will come down to your playstyle, whether you're the sit, wait, tele around type, or the active damage-dealer type.. =)

Of the two, a meteorb (poorly named, as fireball is your main killing skill, but hey) is more powerful. Wall looks good on paper; in practise herding them is inefficient, spamming wall is less efficient, and you end up with a pretty defensive build that hides behind your merc as monsters walk up to him and get fried. Probably the best [fire] skill if you're interested in getting through hell intact, not the best skill for fast MF runs.
The most powerful pvm sorc IMO is orb/cl.
