I for one am glad for a change... if there aren't any changes.. it would be the SAME game with just a different story line. An example WOW, same stuff.. just different story line.. however they did add some new things to keep it "interesting" for a bit at least.

That's what I think, too. With new games there are bound to be changes. If you want things to be like D2...play D2.

Yeah, I've noticed also on certain other well known trading board, people add to their importance by spitting on every detail that looks or works different than Dia2. I use the wild stupid theories in those boards made around 1 gameplay video just for my own enjoyment. Some kids that really don't even have the clue or care what is it all about, just are worried about loosing their "GAWDLEHH 'NIGMA 'N L33T STUFF." Morons.
As the one who played through all Diablo titles at the time of their release, I must say I'll buy DiaIII. I KNOW IT'S NOT DIABLOII, AND I KNOW IT'S ( shocking fact for some ) COMPLETELY NEW GAME!!!
Agreed completely with Omnicide.

Funny that the small, unpopular forum understands the changes more than the super popular forum owned by the source of the game.
THAT'S why I don't go to the big forums.
The only other big forum I like is Dii.net.
I've been in a few arguments there lately with a couple idiots who just can't for the life of them understand that the WD don't replace the necro. It's a new char and atm nothing like the necro at all, so how can it replace it? Besides the people at the Blizzard panel said that the WD is not a replacement for the necro.

Maybe so...but he does share a LOT in common with the necro.

Not to be rude, but Blizzard shouldn't really care.
For all the people out there that hate WoW, doesn't stop them from making millions. They are banking up big time and there is no game that even comes close from taking away what they are doing.
Most or all the original developers are gone and they are making more money than they ever had. They are pushing out expansions, they are pushing out Starcraft 2 and now finally they are continuing Diablo 3.
Can any of us really say they are doing something wrong?
They kept an old outdated 2d sprite game alive and on the shelves for all these years. They were smart enough to keep the servers up and run a game that is totally outdated. Even Microsoft won't do that anymore when they easily could.
It's 2008 and there is a whole new generation of kids that are just starting to play real games. I doubt any of them played the original Diablo or even care. I doubt any of them even know Roberta Williams and the King Quest series. Ontop of that I am sure an 8 bit Nintendo systen doesn't mean crap either.
WoW, Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. Could you ask for anymore from a great company?
Love ya' all, Happy 4th of July.

I agree with you guys.
I've played all Blizzard games since WC2 and there's not one that's not been outstanding for its time. Blizzard has produced one hit after another so I don't see any reason for being pessimistic about D3.
I really hope that there are lots of changes in the game. I'd be disappointed if it would be nothing more than an updated D2.

I have no complaint about the changes being made in Diablo III, although i wish they wouldnt replace the Necromancer for the Witch Doctor of all classes. I think the Necromancer over all other classes belongs the most in the world of Diablo. Its dark, its Demonic, it just fits in my opinion.

For crying out loud he does not replace the Necro. I can't understand why so many people believe he does. Isn't it enough that Blizzard said the WD is not replacing the Necro? It's a completely new char with new skills that's not at all related to the WD.
Stop whining about the Nec being gone. Besides you don't even know if he is gone yet or not.

Even if it does i wont be too heart broken seeing as my favorite class is the Druid. It woulda been neat if they kept the original 5 plus the Druid and Assassin and then added 1 or 2 new ones. Since it continues from the Diablo II story line its just 20 years later. and by the by i never read anywhere that blizzard came out and said the Witch Doctor wasnt replacing the Necromancer. Im new to the forums so no need to go right for my throat man, calm down heh

It was one of the guys at those question panels or whatever they are called that one said that.

I swear, most of these people are just complaining for the hell of it. You go to these sites the day before WWI and everyone says "omg i hope d3 is goin to be announced!!" But once it is announced its complaint after complaint about how there were changes.

Sorry, different game. Get over it.

Yes, we will only have the choice of male/female Barbarians and Witch Doctors. Diversity has always been #1 in Diablo 2, and it just got better.
teh helth orbz r so ghey
Well I'm glad to see there are people that enjoy dying because their healing potions were bringing their life back too slow. Have fun furiously hitting 1234 as you're about to die.
Rejuvination potions were extremely useful in D2, but were difficult to find at lower levels and even mid levels. After a certain point potions became absolutely useless and didn't heal you quick enough to actually keep you alive. That and your teammates couldn't care less if you're on the brink of death. If theres a potion nearby and their belt isn't full of them, they'll be sure to try and get it before anyone else can. Luckily the orbs heal all teammates within the area so no matter how quick and selfish others are you'll still be healed.
Just don't play D3 and quit *****ing.

Fat purples were far too much of a crutch in d2.
HMM MY HEALTH IS @ 40% TIME 2 JUV LOLOLOLOL.
IMO, limited healing during battles (the equivalent of a fat purple should be very rare, so popping one is actually a *****, as opposed to being able to fill mules with them in d2) and plenty afterwards = good.

Yeah as long as the orbs don't fill your health back up automatically (people are bound to leave them sitting there until they are on the brink of death if they do O_o) then I don't mind them. They seem to be a really good idea though, keeping the game going at a good pace.
The only way to survive when low on health is to continue fighting. Seems like a good concept. :p

It is messed up how much people are complaining about D3 when D2 has its' faults also. They seem to over look them or work around it one way or another.
Everyone still seems to bash the WD and it's just one damn character they havn't even played yet. You think all the people that whine about the WD play all seven characters in D2? I seriously doubt it.
I see people complain about the stance of the WD. I'm already planning on playing the femal version because she seems to stand upright. See, if something bothers you try something different.
If I don't like the char, I will play something else.

I've only seen one screenshots of the female WD and it wasn't a close up shot. I think her stance is different because that will be the only way to tell them apart. Both ugly as hell, heh.
I'm still expecting another original class. It's not in stone that I will play the WD as a main.

Really, you can't base anythign that blizzard does on what has been leaked out at the moment. Look at WoW's paladins. They completely redesigned the class after the orginal Beta went live. We really have no idea what blizzard will do until the game is realesed, so we can really just sit back and watch what unfolds before us.
On a different note, there is a 4th developement team working on an "unknown" project.

I think people are just worried that the new game is going to steal their accomplishments in the old game, and that no one will play D2 anymore. It's the same thing that happened when EQ2 was coming out. In the end, some went to EQ2, and some stayed with their investment in EQ1. One day, I am sure there will be a WoW2, and some of the WoW players will start crying about their Tier 19 gear!
Omnicide
07-06-2008, 06:09 AM
That's a pretty good point dacypher...I think that's what will keep a lot of people on D2 while D3 is out. The fact that instead of having the gear and already pwning characters, they have to start from scratch again...with something they know almost nothing about. Let's face it...they could have completely changed the FCR/FHR/IAS/FRW and such...we have no ideas on frames or breakpoints anymore. It's a brave new world...and some people really aren't going to want to venture into that again.
The fact that there is a fourth project has my interest. WC4? O: Either way, it looks like it's still WAY far off from being announced so...

Diablo 2: 7 Classes
Diablo 3: 5 Classes
Math is your friend.
That's not entirely true. D2 has 5 classes. LoD has 7 classes so my guess is that we will get 2 or maybe even 3 new classes (you can always hope ;)) with the expansion.
About the 4th project... they talked about a next-gen MMO so that would rather be a WoW2 than a WC4 but it could also be another or even a new franchise. But I guess it'll take several years to the announcement. I've read that they are already working on D3 for 4 years and as with Starcraft Ghost it can still be that the new game might not be making it to a release.

07-06-2008, 06:33 AM
I know, but they mentioned if this game would have all the classes. Clearly this particular one won't because seven can't fit into five.

I welcome new classes and I know the Druid is gone. *shrugs*
Besides the pure caster which should be the biggest thing of the game, with all these special spells and colorful effects. I still don't think that means there needs to be a pure range character. Even so, that will leave the door open to one more new character.
Why not a ShadowKnight over a Paladin. Why not a Ranger over a Rogue.
Then again, who knows the story line. With the new game game engine you can use the enviroment for traps. Would be a big plus for Rogues. No one knows for sure, but after the caster I expect a whole new class like the WD. Just being different and all.
yeah...

07-06-2008, 07:30 AM
I think there'll be a lot more original classes than we think. They might border along classes we know...but they'll have their own twist. i.e. Witch doctor.
I'm still laughing at how people are bashing the WD. Gameplay>how the character looks guys. I bet even KKK members have an hdin somewhere.

I'm going to have to agree. Everyone is bashing what is unknown to them, but when they try it they might love it.
Wait until the game is out to bash it, and then if you don't like it, play D2.

I have to say that I'm amazed that ppl think they know what the game will be like after a 20 mins in-game video which was mainly for introducing the first two chars and some features. Blizzard is already working for four years on D3 and we know almost nothing about the story nor the concept of it. So why do ppl already start flaming? Guess it's just for the sake of it.

The way i looked at the trailier/teaser for Diablo III was the same as someone stated either earlier in this thread or on another website forum. Its been 20 years since the end of Diablo, Baal and Mehpisto. Since then the world has had time to recover and re-grow (if you will) from all of their destruction. Id assume the teaser was atleast from Act 1 and VERY early into the game. Since thats that, i looked at it as Diablo and his brothers have not had time to start ruining the world again or maybe there is a brand new enemy as well as the 3 brothers of hell. *shrugs* who knows? we will have to wait and find out together.

Okay so far what blizzard has announced for D3 is that there are gonna be 5 classes 2 of which were revealed already the barb and the witch doctor, as for the rest nothing is certain yet and they will announce at a later time, there's no release date yet cause obviously they still working on the game. Change? yes, i personally like some of the changes done in D3, i heard many idiots on the bnet channels complaining already and saying that D3 looks exactly like WoW, well i've seen the gameplay trailer of D3 many times already and if it could be compared to any game out there that has somewhat the same battle system that would be Titan Quest, for those of you who have played the game you'll know what i mean. WD vs Necro? get over it, to me if they indeed replace the Necro with the WD it won't make much of a difference, skill wise they are very alike so its like if the Necro never left, lol i have this funny theory that the WD is none other than our beloved Necro redesigned and renamed lol, but seriously guys enough with the complaints D3 so far looks kick *** and it probably will, i for one will be definably buying the game when it comes out and quit WoW lmfao, at least for a while...
