Any suggestions?

I have been playing D2 on dial up, last week I finally upgraded to high speed. When I did this i could not log on to East but I could West. So i started doing some research and not being computer literate, I could not find a solution to my problem. So I thought (which is my first mistake) if i removed D2 and reinstalled my issues might dissapear, only problem is so did my account. I had to create a new account and lost my char. But when I try to make a new char with the same name it tells me there is a char with the same name. So is my account still active somewhere outthere? Any suggestions on what I did wrong would be appriciated as this would be the second time I have to rebuild my char in a month, due to another stupid thing I did. Thanks!!

If you're playing on closed Battle.net, your accounts don't disappear even if you uninstall the game.

I'm assuming your problem is switching from east to west. You said you can't not log on to east which is where you previously played, correct? Your accounts do not carry over from east to west so your account of course would not be stored on the west servers. Then there is also the possibility of someone on west having the same character name as your character on east did.

When i reloaded D2 i was able to log onto East but my account would not work. So now that I reloaded it I am able to log onto both East and West. Sorry I should have said that in my first post.

Ah ok. Well accounts don't disappear unless theres been 90 days of inactivity on the account so... I dunno. =/
