Hi, im so depressed cause i just found out i might die.
heres the story...

I went to a spa with some friends(9 people in all) and everyone got sick who went to the sauna except this little kid who was affraid to go in there and we all caught a desise that rots ur lungs and 50 out of 200 people there died from it and monday i am going to the doctor and i have to drink antibiotics for a month and if i survive im sueing those bastards who created the spa.

Only disease ive heard of you can get from a spa is like a staph infection that bores holes into your legs and just rots the skin...... but that is from foot spas that use unclean water and stuff, it may look clean but sometimes it isnt.
i think 1 person died and many just have scars on their legs from the disease.

I understand that you live in Connecticut, therefore, this would be something occurring in America, is it not? If 50 people die in America, its huge. Only 2 people died from e-Coli and that was in the news for months.

All that is being asked of you is some information. If there is truly an outbreak of this disease, we, as fellow posters, would like to know about it. At a minimum, for our own saftey.

Oh, and unrelated...age is a good way of knowing generally how mature a person is in most circumstances, but there are exceptions. I have seen children who behave more maturely than their parents...hell, I'm 14 and I'm pretty sure I'm more mature than 80% of the people my age. So don't be too quick to jump to conclusions based solely on a person's age alone. ;)

Still it doesnt matter wether 50 people died from the disease or the spa....thats 50 people that died for something many people use..(spas). This would be on the world news if it happened. It would be breaking news...Since you have no evidence but your story..I still dont believe.

I agree with the News statement, it would be all over CNN and Fox or whatever else has news if something like this happened. They would probably make it out to be like Bird Flu or Staph infection the way they had those all over the news for weeks.

Im just not really believing it right now.

If i were in a situation such as this i would do the same thing, but i probably wouldnt stay on the computer all day. It really sounds more like you just have the flu. A spa, this time of year would be a perfect time to catch that bug. The flu is not a pleasant thing to have either. It usually has the symtoms that you describe, as well as worse, and can last up to 3 weeks. If you are unhealty, it may last longer.

Don't try to scare yourself that you are dying. You are only 10. Think positive and collect positive results. Have your Mom make you some fresh chicken soup, take lots of citrus and zinc.

and yea contagious disease? the water shouldnt be contaminated since its chlorinated like a gadgillion time. and the water is heated also, which destroys alot of bacteria at the same time... The disease has to be some "supervirus" to survive in the heat and infect everyone that goes into it...

Entity does bring up good points and I can agree on some. Bacteria may not survive, but a virus, any virus is a completley different story. A virus is quite strong. Chlorine, fire and even toxins are no match for a virus. That's why, even today, there is no cure for any virus on this planet.

Man, I take a day off of this site and what drama. Man I have to say I watch CNN all the time because I buy/sell stocks in my spare time and haven't seen any report of this so yeah I kinda feel like everyone else. Ok, now we are getting somewhere. First of all, Pneumonia is treatable, so you can relax.

I have had it twice. Once as a child and once as an adult. If you have it now, you would not be at your computer, you would be in bed. Pneumonia will kick your a**. You will have a fever over 101, you can't eat, sleep and it hurts to breath.

You don't have Pneumonia, if you did, there would be no doubt in your mind. The high fever would be a dead give away and your lungs make a clicking sound when you inhale, due to the fluid gathering in the lung. You would not want to get out of bed.

Pneumonia is very treatable. Since it is not a virus doctors will prescribe whats called a 'broad spectrum' antibiotic. Usually Ampicillin or Amoxicillin. You will have to take this med for 3-4 weeks. You will need lots of rest, but that won't be a problem, because, if you had it, you won't be getting out of bed anytime soon anyway.

Yes, Pneumonia does kill about 60k people every year, however, that is not a national statistic, that is a world wide statistic. There are 6 billion people on Earth, that means that .01% of the entire population dies from Pneumonia.

Speaking of Amoxicillin: When i had my tonsils(sp?) taken out i had to take a liquid version of Amoxicillin due to my not being able to take the pill version. That medicine almost killed me with the taste, it was horrible. I actually tried to cover my tongue with plastic wrap just so i couldnt taste it when i swallowed. Worst medicine ive ever had.

Six people have been taken ill with Pontiac Fever after having bathed in the same spa in the Kronoberg region of Sweden.

Pontiac Fever is caused by the same bacteria as Legionnaires Disease but has milder symptoms.

The jacuzzi where the disease was spread is maintained at 38-39 degrees centigrade, a perfect temperature for the bacteria which cause the illness.

The owner of the spa is said to be inconsolable and has contacted all of those who have been infected, reported Swedish Radio Kronoberg.

Doctor if infectious diseases Arne Runehagen believes that Pontiac Fever will become increasingly common as more people invest in home spas and outside pools. But he did not want to warn people against using jacuzzis.

"The people who run these places should have their own control programme and then there won't be any danger," he sold SR.

According to the Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control, Pontiac Fever is not serious and clears up without treatment within a few days. The symptoms are flu-like, with fever and aching muscles.
