As soon as you experience lag, try to have a Web-browser up (D2 preferably), and reload the page.
It works for me ^_^ The lag breaks and you can play on.
Is that in uber tristram you're talking about? If so you can just exit to town for a few seconds and go back in and the lag should be gone ;)

Talking about the game in general ^_^
In UT it might be safer to get to town, you know about that stuff better than me ;)

As an "Uber Tristram" Lag tip, remove your torch before going in. You can put it in cube or drop on the ground. This will make it so the firestorm doesn't cast every 5seconds, and greatly reduce Lag.

then you lose valuable +3 to skills, resists and stats

Darkprince: Might be less of a danger for Necromancers, since they never hit anything - they only cast... Unless i`ve misunderstood terribly.

The +3 skills will only add to your smite dmg, which isn't mandatory for an Uber toon, and I'd value actually being able to see what im doing over extra resists/stats.

by uber lag he was talking the game in general, as in major lag, not chaos trist. the same tips could be used in chaos trist, but its better to just go into town or deal with it.

who said anything about smite? not all chaos uber killers are paladins. barbs, necros, zons, sins and sorcs can all do it. i didnt list a druid, because i havent seen a video of them doing it yet.

though I am known for my preference and knowledge of necros, they arent my only chars :D , and although they're technically casters, not all of them are just casters. And when teleing and such I do hit mobs sometimes, fighting my way through. Most people dont acknowledge it, but necros take more skill to use properly than most other chacters, sorcs and barbs come in second, or at least IMO anyways. Eventually all the strategy becomes second nature though when you play them as much as I do.
You can bring a torch in uber tristram without problems. Just make sure you take on the 3 seperatly. I've done it countless of times without any problems at all.
As for general play, if lag really hits you hard, there is nothing you can do except exit the game or wait for it to drop. In anyway the game almost always is lost after such lag.

Yes, you figured it out =) Good good!
Darkprince: I do believe that Necros are of the most advanced characters. Although every character is advanced in a way, dealing with a lot of summons takes a little more than standing there and striking with your shield .. although both may be as effective.
I think Commando-mancers sounds cool. Any Necro should carry a vicious Scythe ;D
It depends on your definition of advanced character Taur. For example some may say a ww/trap hybrid pvp assa is the most "advanced" char, meaning most hotkey and skill dependant. :p

Well, that does not sound too advanced to me ^_^ By advanced i mean moving a lot around, avoiding damage and really playing the game like there`s no tomorrow. And using hotkeys as well.
Then a ww/trapper is from what I have heard a very advanced char to use. For example skills you need to hotkey:
In combat "mode" (when duelling)
Ww
Light trap
Mind blast
Shadow
Tele
Fade
Venom
Blade shield (I think)
And maybe fire blast. Not sure about that.
And that's just the hotkeys. Throw in name lock, chain lock, delayed tele/ww trick (or whatever it's called) and avoid getting hit. It's fairly advanced stuff ^_^

Oh i did not take duelling into account. Though a trapper`s job was to .. lay traps xD But i don`t favorise any build, as long as it gets the job done and is fun to play with, stick with it!
That sounded a bit more advanced, yes.

I mentioned smite because it's the MOST common uber build. And yes I know what he was talking about, the uber TRISTRAM comment was just a side note.

So have anyone tested this tip i presented :) ?
I did a few cowruns with a friend yesterday, and it worked twice during the runs.
Havn't tested it yet, and doubt I will be able to test it for some time.
Btw try and take the time each time lag occures, then check how long it takes to do your trick and then take the time without doing the trick. Would be interesting to compare :)

In Uber Tristam, monsters and stuff will continuously spawn= a lot of things= a lot of things moving around= gives you lag. Now, with the torch going off a once in a while, it will increase it because of all the animation and things moving around, therefor, making even more lag. If this goes to much, then the game drops and you lose your chance of getting the torch.
Thats why you dont go in with the torch. As it is better to gain a new one but just a little harder than come in buffed but lose it due to lag.

I've never had a problem with lag in Chaos tristram. even with a full army of 75 minions. but ive only ubered with my necro like 5 or 6 times. after i made my frenzy barb, thats all i used after that. and the torch never caused any lag for me either. and it cast firestorm every 2 seconds. Maybe its just time to update your computers. ;)
