The West Reset Club

Well there's been a lot of talk about the reset. I've read around, and it seems we have enough people on West NL interested in making a character when the reset comes that we can start a club. We want to try to keep this at no more then 8 people, so when we get to it we can run our own games, without any public rando's. Untill we hit that 8, ANYONE is welcome to join us.

I will either go with Java or Blizzard most likely. Havn't played either in a good while. Come one people, I know you're interested in this.

I will most likely be going with a blizzard sorc lol. I know omni and I'm pretty sure it was Jordan were both going to make summoners. All I know so far O_o.

EDIT: Oh yeah, almost forgot. I won't be using my normal account "Interesting" for ladder reset. My new ladder account will be "Vindicate" and omni's is "TheOmnicide" in case you didn't already know.

DA is making a summoner as well, for the record.

I'm still on the wall with what I'm going to do. I mean, obviously a decent mf build, but it's so hard:

Hdins-Versatile and can handle most anything.
Summoners-Easy to use untwinked, but slow to kill, also able to go everywhere.
Sorcs-Fastest due to tele, but immunity to your element kills. Dual elements tend to be weaker.
Barbs-Melee and can take the hits, but kill incredibly slow, but can do the dreaded MF switch.

._.;; So that's where I'm sitting about now.

My plan for the summoner would be a mix of summoner/mojomancer...essentially a fishy with less points into CE and more on golem or mastery. Basically I'm going to play it like a summoner in the beginning, but it'll eventually play like a mojo, if that makes sense. The way I'd be able to use the MF is using the merc to do the killing, while I stack up on MF, maybe him too if he can handle it.

The sorc and hdin are self explanatory.

The barb I would be you guys' tank and all, and I pretty much have the same thought process as the mojo. In order to MF, I'd stack it and let the merc do the killing for a higher chance of dropping.

I know we want versatility, but I'm also thinking of being able to play solo in the case no one's on, too.

So...any thoughts on this?

Oh...btw...remind me I even have "TheOmnicide" when it comes time for ladder. I know I'm going to forget.

Imo, out of that list your best choice is a summoner... possibly a barbarian.

A hammerdin can do a good job of killing but being gearless will completely drop your defense, which even godly geared hammerdins have a difficult time surviving mobs of enemies.

A sorceress would be difficult solo due to immunes. Unless you manage to find some amazing mercenary gear, you're pretty much screwed when it comes to immunes. And again, you have the mob problem. Not even a mob, a group of maybe three monsters can drop a sorcs health quickly.

The barbarian has an amazing survivability rate and does great as an assist character with battle orders, shout, and just brute strength. Solo wouldn't be very difficult either, granted you manage to find a decent rare/unique weapon early on. But his killing rate wouldn't be very good.

Summoner is probably best for both. Summons can take quite a bit of damage off your allies. Plus, curses such as lower resist, amplify damage and such can greatly assist teammates. Solo, your summons will keep you well protected. They may not do the greatest amount of damage, but they definitely will keep you alive.

Wow... after talking about this I might actually make a zealer or smiter. I started a zealer on classic and he solos nm pretty easily and I had him for maybe two days. (and only level 50 I might add)

I started a Summoner last ladder, got to 82. O_o

But, everyone I started ladder with quickly quit. Lol, so I did too.

I made a blizz sorc and she managed pretty well for a while. Got her to about 86. I found ormus, a decent orb, and snowclash. But the only person who actually played that I knew was Todd and he was never very active so I gave up. Then I eventually added all of you guys and Tom and Jordan got me restarted on nl :D.

Allrighty guys. I've decided.
Magic Find Barb.
20 into Item Find.
1-10 Howl
20 into Battle Orders
20 into Shout
1 into Battle Cry.
The rest I will mess around with, most likely a lot into Nat. Resistances and Increased Speed.
Everything I use will consist of +MF, EVERYTHING!

This way I give you guys the War Crys, in turn for letting me loot the corpses you guys leave behind.

IMO we should decide on one person for a summoner. Exspecially considering me and you live in the East. I see many problems on the horizon with multiple summons:

-Less corpses for me to loot=less items for the group
-More summons=More lagg.

I just don't see it working with 3summoners.
Maybe 2, but I really think we'd be best off with 1 summonancer.

-The group still gets the benefits of having a summonancer.'
-There would be less lagg.
-There would be more corpses.
-We'd have more versatility in the group.

If you guys can decide on who would be the summoner that would be better for the whole group, if not I guess we'll just have to work something out.

And about the 6 people, I only listed the people that have confirmed what they are using in this thread.

Everything else is way to boring to play, until you hit like... 30'ish. Summoners are fun to play (imo) all the way through.

My plan is..to make the summoner, mf enough with him to be able to make/trade for a Tals sorc. Then that'll be my next character. o_O

Well I could hold back my summons (sans golem...I WILL have at least a golem out) and be the curse guy...considering I AM the mojomancer. I just plan to have summons for playing solo when I need something between me and monsters.

That would be why I changed my mind ;P. I will actually be using a zealer (fanat aura ftw). Seeing as we will have many skeletons and now barbarian, it shall be very helpful.

Yeah, they're actually pretty efficient and useful.

Only downfall is Chaos/Worldstone where it becomes 'very' difficult.

I used to love PvM Zealers but I enjoy Chaos/Baal most and you just can't do those with one. You can try but you'll fail almost every time. And when you survive an entire run, it's like a rush. I MADE IT OUT ALIVE!

So vouch on a barb's slow killing speed (especially if you're doing that switch trick).

How do you think we're gonna do item distribution? I mean obviously if it helps one class better than the other it'll go that way, but what about a general item that could help all of us?

I was thinking it would just be sorted based on class but then I realized that we have 2 maybe 3 necromancers and 2 melee characters.

Then I thought maybe the +skill items will go to the necros since they will be needing it for skellys, but again there are going to be a few of you O_o.

I'm thinking it would just be best to wait until the time comes and hope that they can be distributed evenly as well as based on class =/.

If something like say shako were to drop, and we all needed it, who ever picked it up should get it. If that person allready has a good helm, then we can decide on where to go from there.

If arm of king leoric drops, you and bryant can fight over it.
Generally if MF crap drops, I would think it would go to this barb. Considering whatever drops is not determined by the normal rule of "oh I picked it up I get it" and instead who ever needs it. The same thing will be applied to my corpse checks. So the more mf on the barb, is the same thing as having more mf on the group, if not better. Does mf on a group stack up and apply to the monster that's killed, or does everyone have there own mf and whoever kills the monster, there mf is applied?

I only use it for two reasons.

1) Baal runs. I enjoy knowing that I can reach the gg items before the bot does ^^.

2) Chaos runs. Lots of fun drops to go after, and some of the peoples reactions are just funny.

I am moving to USwest to be with all the cool people! HAHA. Count me in on this if you have room for a Sorc. Lightning sorc to be exact. I can halfsies everything for us with my super duper static! And then sit back and die over and over while you guys laugh at me!

I am not sure how often you guys play I hope I don't fall too far behind the curve. I work weekdays off on weekends...and if I get too far behind I can grind on weekends if needed.

I like how you have the listings for people going to be in it. gonna bookmark that page and I'll save any goodies I get for the crew. I think with all of us helping each other out with this stuff gearing us wont be much of a problem. Call me crazy but I always seem to MF sorc stuff so I am going to try and fight Murphy's law and see if I get lucky to get some nice items for light sorc.

I just figure until I get some type of MF gear and strong build gear going the best way to MF is going to be quantity over quality. And the more faster I can kill and the more times I can do it in the given amount of time the better off I will be. At least until I get the proper set up going.

Another reason I am starting a light sorc is even without the end game gear they are going to need to be most efficient, you don't have to worry about botching up the build...its basically lightning, lightning, lightning, and synergies and more lightning and more synergies lol. Not to mention the stat allocation is simple. I don't plan on maxing any kind of block or anything like that, just pure dmg, going to have to get a merc going soon with some kind of insight or something for when I solo MF and exp. Thats a simple enough runeword to get quickly, may have to put it in something with low requirements at first to get the merc up and going but I can manage.

I am definitely going with light sorc. I might make another char and level as well, but the sorc will be my main priority to get out and MF'ing in a hurry.

Omni, im not the best person to ask, or divulge strategies because I am fairly new to Diablo, only been playing about a year now. But I would start you something your comfortable soloing with. Getting a bunch of people in a game is easy no matter what chars you got as long as everyone is helping and nobody is sitting on the sidelines cheering. So go with what you think you will be most effective with.

Truth is, you are the one who has to play it so if you want to go with something different hit em up. I will be tossing anything I get that I don't need even on my solo time to you guys. Will be a lot better if we help eachother out at first to get going then we can do our things after that.

So if you want to play the necro go ahead mate. But if you fancy something different that isn't a crime either. I am sure we can all make anything work somehow.

As I've recommended in the East reset club thread...you should list the accounts of the people going into this...that way it's easy for us to add them and find out who's who when they're not on their main accounts. Mostly because I know Vile and I are going to be using different accounts for ladder.

You aren't going to find a HoZ and Arachnids in Act-1 NM but you can find some things that will really help. Re-making isn't a bad thing.

One question about your build. Do your skelies carry with them your MF on your char? If so it wouldn't be such a bad thing. Might take you awhile but at least you can pile on the MF.

And yes, all minions carry your MF, that's what makes summoners viable. In the case of a merc, you can stack MF on them, too, and let them kill to increase your chances. At least that's the theory I'm going on.

So in other words your going to be on the lookout for a 3os or better helm and some ptopaz's? :) I am sure I will eventually get a merc but it wont be before I can get the runes and such for insight. Unless a nice bonehew or something drops. Bonehew with a couple pskulls makes a rather nice early stage merc weapon. Wouldn't mind a nice Griswolds ornate plate until I can come up with a fort for him as well.

This is going to be a lot of fun, I am excited. It will be just like it was when I started a year ago!

I just have one question about the light sorc. I should really ask this in the sorc thread, but since I will be playing around you guys as much as possible, your advice is a bit more substantial so to speak. Should I use energy shield with my light sorc? To absorb some dmg or should I go all out dmg? The main problem I had with my light sorc is nothing hardly ever touched me but when it did...it hurt pretty bad. I would die to stupid stuff sometimes when I couldn't get away with tele. Tell me your thoughts on if I should bother with it or not, for the solo aspect of the sorc moreso then the grouping.

And ES...my sorc didn't have a problem with ES...as long as you're quick on the mana and can tele the hell out...you're good...most of the time. However...that was geared. With a sorc that's just beginning I'm not so sure how well it'll fare.

Well, in about 5 hours I got quite a bit done today. Level 41 now and I am on Act 2 NM, I got some items if anyone needs let me know. They aren't much but if your just starting they may help, I have 2 10% fcr amulets with mana and poison resist, a +1 to shape shifting skills ammy with 20-30% resists on a couple resists cant remember which, and a few other things I can't think of odd the top of my head.

Let me know if you guys need that, I can't find anyone because of lack of knowing their add info.
