View Full Version : Hybrid WW/Trap, Ghost, or Pure LS?

Well as many of you know, the ladder is resetting soon. When it does, my trapper will be converted to NL. I'm strongly thinking about remaking her into one of the following:
~Hybrid WW/Trapper~
~Ghost~
-or-
Keep it at LS, but remake.
The one I'm most interested in is probably the hybrid, because of the gear I have. Here's a few questions:
1.) Which build do you think I should make, to handle most other builds.
2.) Which gear/set-up do you recommend for the build that you recommend?

I pulled a dumbass move (considering the ladder is resetting) and gave away my claws to a freind, so I'm praying he still has. The claws were pretty decent:

Chaos Runic Talons
2Lightning Sentry

Fury Feral Claws:
1Venom
2Mind Blast


I won't actually make this character for a while, and when I do I'm remaking the BvC also. I would like to wait til I have all or close to all of the gear.

Open for ANY and ALL help and recommendations.

sorry to say: the circlet is nice, but not godly. it's a 3-mod rare (the AR isn't really a mod 'sins hunt for on a helm unless it's visionary, +%ar/lvl). ditto the ring.

while it would be very tempting to build in all that strength, you could find yourself stuck if you come across a better helm/ring later on that doesn't have strength.

personally, i like Hybrids for pubbing. be aware however, that a t-gods + wisp will ruin your traps and turn you into an underpowered ghost. a Ghost is a solid 1v1 build, but gettting teamed up on is a bit more than a ghost can realistically handle (unless you're teamed up on by nublets ofc)

in any event, the important thing with any ww'sin build is to hit the basic goals: 65% fcr, 48%fhr. these are important.

ways to hit 65%fcr:
1: circlet/arach/trangs gives 60%, the other 5% can come from any caster craft ammy, preferably with +2'sin on it. (the advantage of this setup is that it leaves a ringslot free from FCR duties.)
2: circlet/trangs/15%+ammy/10%ring: leaves belt slot open for more %DR (dungos) or sorb (t-gods)
3: griffons/arach/trangs: not the ideal helm, but does make a nice easy 3-piece solution for 65%fcr.
4: CoA/arach/trangs/15%+ammy/10%ring: i don't like this setup myself. CoA is a nice helm, but puts massive strain on our FCR goals. only if i come across the godliest 20fcr/+2sin ammy on West would i consider using a CoA on a 'sin.



other thoughts: look for a +3LS runic or greater talon for your Fury claw. with the setup you have, you have different base WSM's on your claws (-30 for the runic, -20 for the feral). this can be fine if you're speedbugging, but for general ease-of-use, i like matched WSM claws.


fyi: here's my setup:

helm: 2/20 with some life and base res on it (http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/7779/sinhattc1.jpg), socky with a res/ias jool. this is a "nice" hat, but i have seen much better.
armour: enigma MP
ammy: i have a selection of these depending on need. +2/5fcr/minor res. +2/5fcr/75%plr, +1/5fcr/big cold + fire res, +1/15%fcr/nice res.....
belt: arach and a 15%dr SoE
gloves: Trangs. wear anything but trangs on a venom'sin and you can hand in your membership to the order of mageslayers.
rings: ravenfrost + a mix'n'match of wisp/dwarf/another raven and a 10fcr/dex/gravy ring (i need the dex to pick up a runic talon)
boots: 2/20 dancers

claws:
1: +3ls/+3d-flight chaos greater talon (the d-flight is actually superfluous as i almost never use it. tele/talon or tele/whirl are better attacks)
2: fools/2sox/20ias/+2venom runic. socky'd with Um+Nef, used vs smiters.
3: +2'sin/fools/10ias rare greater talon, socky with an Um (main claw)
4: Strength Greater Claw with +3 LS on it (for PvM'ing)

charms:
anni/torch. 9x Shadow Lifers. 11x Res/Lifer sc's.

just a quick word on skills:
max: venom, lit sentry
1point: all other shadow skills, WoF, Blade Shield. 2 points into Mind Blast (something in the shadow master coding means the 'master will cast MB more if you have more hard points in it)
ALL OTHER POINTS TO TRAP SYNERGIES!!!!!1111!!!!!


fyi: i've managed 3.9k life on my 'sin. which i rekon aint a bad effort.

Well I decided on a Ghost. I got some really nice stuff for one coming when the reset is up. And that ring was PC'd at 200-300fg.

looking at those claws, i can't help thinking they'd be better suited to a ghost than a hybrid. that fools claw just screams ww/kicker to me. downside is you'll be stuck at 10 frame traps (9 frame in 1v1's vs hammys and bone necs when you can use bos)

btw: i'm not saying that ring isn't nice, my sork would love it. but i wouldn't want to build it into a ghost.

I'm pretty much decided on ghost now. That's what I got the claws for. But as far as I'm concerned, I still have around 2full days before I have this stuff on NL, so I still have some time to think. The best stun for a Ghost is 3xLS/2xWoF right? If so I won't even need to put points into LS with that Fury. And hah I see you like the new circ? I'm loving the cold resists on it.

i'd still skill lit-sentry for when u use the fools. i'd also skill a point to Death Sentry. helps speed up the levelling process.

ghosts aren't exactly strapped for skillpoints the way hybrids are.

Ah ya almost forgot about that lol. On my last sin (Hybrid) I didn't have the luxury of a fools, hopefully this time it makes it a lot different.

Now that I know I have to put the 1 pt into LS because of the Fools, wouldn't the best option for the ghost be to go with the Chaos GTs and the Fury Feral Claws?

i run 2x FHR gc's and the rest lifers. gives me the 48%fhr bp.

against pallys and barbs, you'll need the fools. i run my fools claw as standard. i don't actually have a fury claw atm (although i do have a nice +3ls 3os greater talon......)

Well when I mentioned the claws what I really meant is should I use those over the previous chaos/fury claws that I mentioned. (The Runic/Feral)

As for the Dusk nigma, 20 from Anni 20 from torch and 20 from the ring off the top of my head clears the strength req.

You will indeed reach the requirement. 20+20+20+20 (starting stat/torch/anni/ring) will reach 80 str and a Dusk needs 77.

Yea. That's not counting what ever the rest of my equip might add, hence Maras, and both of the circlet have at the least +19Strength.

I've heard somewhere that spider assassin is very strong, anyone got a guide for that?
