Best Single Player Character Build

I'm wondering what you think is the best Single player character build.
Please, don't guess. If you've had huge success with this build or a friend of yours has, then post it.
I want to know because I play single player only and you are so much more limited on single player because you can't get rushed, and you probably aren't going to be able to find a ton of charms and add 30 points to your best skills.
So, whaddya think?

and also, because when you said trapsin I assume you meant lightning from your player written at the bottom. I wasn't sure if a lightning anything was good. just because almost all of its moves do from 1-something huge. The minimum possible damage worries me. Is that ever a problem?

dude lighting anything is mad good, i do 7k LS damage. A lighting sorc would get around the same or even more lighting damage. I never found the 1 minimun damage to be anoying since theres so many posiblities of getting really high damage and since there's 5 traps you will almost never see a low damage trap.

The rushing thing is basically getting a program like d2loader, which lets you open up 2 diablo screens at once. You then make a tcp/ip game then in another window you join you own game with the character that will be rushing the "rushee". The hard part is you have to lvl up to lvl 24 by yourself the first time so that you can get into ancients which shouldnt take you more then 2-3 hours (MAX). So then you get the rusher to Town portal the wp's, and into the bosses layer (like andy you tele to her then you make tp, go to the other window and go in, switch the the rusher and kill andy) you do this till you get to baal then you do baal runs till lvl 45, then you go to NM and you rinse and repeat, its hard to get use to it and it sounds harder then it is!

Problem with single element in sp is the immunities, unless of course you can put enough faith that your merc would kill all immunity for you. Any dual damaging build should be decent, be it phy/magical or 2 elmental.

Would you recommend the light sorc or light assassin?
(in terms of how easy it is to use)

and recommend a good guide if you wanna.

i would recommend either just as much as stated above, However with a pure light i would suggest you somehow aquire infinity because it pretty much destroys lightning immunities, and some cold/fire ones as well. Problem there is it takes 2 ber to make and in sp High Runes are hard to come by.

could I rely on a good melee merc, like an Act2 or 5?

NM act 2 might (offencive) is what i would use. I dont see too many barb out there. Again if you do manage to trade or aquire infinity, its only on a polearm or spear type weapon, i forget which. you also have insight too, it dont break immunities, but it will give you all the mana you would ever need EVER...

Yea i forgot to say that, the thing is i made an infinity, but i would recoment a lighting sorc because she can just tele through the damn Lighting Immunes, i made one before i had infinity and i totally pwned as far as hell ancients goes just get you merc a good tal rasha helmet so he can leech, a good weapon for damage, good or ok armor (shaftstop) then just seperate the ancients and kill korlic, the other non throwy one's first, then you let ur merc kill the thrower!


Or you can make a lighting/orb sorc.

for pure lighting sorc you need

Ive never understood why so many builds say no energy. Do you use a crapload of potions at first? and with only 1 warmth, also suggested in many sorc builds, how fast does energy regenerate?

there is abosulutly no point in using NRG, now since u can buy potions, with RWM you can have insight which gives you medidtation aura (makes you recuparate mana like 400 times faster)

Yes at first its really, really annoying with the mana pots.

Warmth with all the +skills a sorc should have you will have maybe a a ilvl 10 wrmth which is more then enough and with all the mana you can get from gear it should be no problem

CM right now i have a orbballer sorc, and at lvl 87 as she is, with all the + to skills, i have about 12, and 1 pt in warmth, mixed with an insight merc, i regenerate mana to the point my down time from orb is all i need to have enough to cast another one. so no i never need mana pots late game, but true, you will pot like a drunk in a bar at first.

I started a sorceress file. Using /players 8 i'm at level 17 right now, so I'll get chain lightning soon. And I saved a point for tele just in case I run into a lightning immune.
It's working pretty well so far, and I'll do better once I get chain lightning.

The lightress is still working. I'm at level 33, and doing pretty good on players 8. I have all runes needed for insight except Sol, but I might find it at the Hellforge.
I think I'll use a simple runeword off of Legendary's thread to test that my Redruneword thing is workin. And I need to find out how to make ATMA work, because I can't seem to upload my D2 files into it.
