ok so i have a fire trapsin (probly a bad choice from the beggining) but anyway i am in nm and she is lvl 67 with 2 bartucs, maras, shako, nice 24 fhr belt, random gloves, vmagi, and random boots. now this seems very good considering i am only in nm...but i am tryin to get to ball and i cant do it!
he sends out the first 3 rounds and i am fine, but wen he sends out the 4th round i get absolutley destroyed. those dragons are way to fast and my traps deal barely any dmg. and then i have to get through the 5th round.
so i need advice on strategies or other gear to wear...plzz hlp!
What traps are you using? Do you have a SW/SM? Any MA skills?
Personally, I'd do a few Pindle runs and get up to mid 70's before taking on Baal in NM, but I'm somewhat conservative.

do you use shadow skills as well? mind blast and cos are great crowd control. they'll enable you to divide the monsters up and pick them off one by one..

try to thin them out. run back towards the entrace of BTR (baals throne room) so that you can take em on one by one, that is the simplest and most effective way for any character to take on strong minions

Do you have any tank (SM,SW, Merc)? They should keep the monsters in one place so your traps can hit them.

this seems like a good idea...i have a merc but he dies almost instantly...he sux XD. i suppose i will put one or 2 skills in a shadow person. i have maxed all the fire traps and am working on light sentry for the immunes. but i will put the next few in the shadows
thnxx for all ur hlp guys =]

If my source is right, the fourth round is Venom Lords. They have 80 fire resist in Nightmare so that's probably why your traps aren't doing as good.
The Minions of Destruction have 95 fire resist, which can't help either. But they don't have damage resist(except on nightmare)and only have cold resist of 50. If that helps:)

Isn't there an item that ignores resist? I think I heard of it before. Someone recommended it to use on single element builds to beat immunes

probably infinity runeword. it has lvl12 conviction aura which you can equip on your merc. but playing sp, you'll hit a couple of snag..
1. ber ist ber mal. expensive.
2. it'll help reduce fire resistant monsters in nm, but it will not help break most immunes in hell.

yea tht is a huge problem with sp compared to b.net. hrs are very very expensive.
also way do u guys think of this...should they get rid of immunes?

Get rid of immunes... hmm no the game would be too easy if you could just push one dmg tree. With immunes you have to make a balanced char that can handle monsters with different immunities and that's one of the factors that keep this game be fun to play even after almost a decade.

Let`s just say that you would have to get a second skill to deal with fire immunes ^_^ Otherwise you might be stuck forever.
And trying to pick off one and one might be difficult with fire traps, as the fires continue through them and might hit the crowd behind - then they`ll charge you when they`re hit.

here's one recommendation..
get a merc that can cast decrep/amp..
an act2 might merc with reapers toll will provide you a decent secondary form of damage (physical), a wws act1 merc will do just as well or an act4 merc with lawbringer if you're playing rwm..
this way, you can supplement damage thru death sentry as well (which is half fire, half physical damage).

are there any weps you can give a merc that have CtC lower resist?

Not weapon but the shield Medusa's Gaze does. Of course only iron wolves can hold shields and its so heavy that it severely limits their gear and they end up dying easily (more easily than they already do when well equipped). I've tried it and it was not worth it.

or another goos option is to look for a wand with lower resist charges, but that will only help in NM
