Yes, they can, if made right.

how can it be made wrong?

people completed games naked with a fishy.

key factor is if you have poor gear, be patient with a fishy. eventually, everything will die =P

Well if you don't max the skeles and mastery...and happen to focus points in curse. d:

Worst possible scenario types of things.

fishys take on everything, bosses included, they just require a little more planning and strategy (taking on the bosses I mean). Even a novice summoner can do well with a fishymancer.

Given they stick to what skills should be maxed. I don't think a new player would think about corpse explosion being as useful as it is.

a misconception that should last about 1/2 a second after they first try corpse explo (assuming at least average intelligence for said nub)

if you want to be useful without maxing it, 10 points will suffice, with plus skills picking it up. thats what i did with my dethwalker and his CE is sitting at lvl 24

1-5 is plenty enough for CE, max skellies/mastery/revive. I'm not a fishy expert, but that worked on my SP fishymancer.

I always maxed CE on my Fishymancers, the bigger the radius the better. I have to say though that you should have a homu (gives you 5 mana per kill) or some other gear with +to mana after each kill. Otherwise you'll have a mana problem as CE will become really expensive when maxed (it cost me 45-50 mana per cast with my +skill gear).

I never got why they called it a FISHYmancer. What's fishy stand for. Some online word for a cookie cutter?

If I remember it's named after the person who made it...someone with fish in his name. D: Some people sill say you use your skeletons to "fish" the monsters and then use CE but...that's been proved against by the previous reason.

NIGHTFISH.

do people make this build without reading the guide or what? or notice who wrote them?

there are also other builds that he made aptly named fishyzon and fishysin =P

most of his builds caters to the cheap as well as hardcore-viable.

btw, the fish corpses thing is quite a ridiculous analogy. wonder who came up with it... =P

a fish in sports is someone who is untalented or looks to be an easy defeat.

maybe this is to say that a fishymancer is either a character that a noob can easily play cause its effective, no cost too make, and/or easy to understand, or without gear it looks like an easy catch

or it could just be the name of the person who thought of it as omnicide said

It's the name. Not the build type..
