What gear do i use for a summoner that collects orgins?

who cares?

summoners are completely gear independent. there have been numerous accounts of summoners solo'ing their way to Guardian status, NAKED.

my goldfind neccy can collect organs. my k/t'sin can collect them a lot faster.

Vouch.

Used a summoner on Single Player, used only what I found, and it did great. Currently sits in Hell, needing to beat Baal. (Too lazy.)

I'm a noob so I will probably get flamed. But I recommend for a summoner as many plus Summoning skills items as you can find, so your minions will be as strong as possible and as numerous as possible too. I make 24 skeletons now woot.

Here's a basic gear suggestion:
Cheap+Effective.

Helm: (Um'd) or (Ber'd) Shako
Ammy: +3 Summoner ammy
Armor: Enigma
Wep:BeastZ
Shield:Homunoculus
Gloves:Trangs
Rings: 2x Sojs
Belt: Spider
Boots: Marrow Walks
Charms: 9x Summon Gcs, Torch, Anni, 10x 20 lifer scs.
Swap: CtA and Spirit

you dont need cta on a summoner. mine doesnt and he has done pretty much everything but ubers cause of mephisto.
also instead of homu try to geta +3 boneflame or a good darkforce(more points more skellys more dmg):) remember to use a mercenary i prefer act 2 might with a pride.

CtA is still useful, thus it being listed. It's not needed, it's a suggestion.

Also...Homunculus is dirt cheap compared to the two heads you're recommending...and there's too many variables to worry about on them. Overall I'd still recommend Homun over the other two.

i can solo all of hell with my measly 10 skelly army, gumby and merc.

+summon skills aren't the be all and end all of summoners. having a nice big corpse explosion radius and throwing a lot of amp damage around is how you get most kills.

Indeed. If anything, more skeles means more of a prepare time. And man do I hate prepping. I use 10-11 skeles, clay golem (iron for melee and fire vs fire) and merc. I don't even bother with revives either, because the 3 minute limit bothers me.

when i do a meph-walk, i like to revive a bunch of Maulers (if they spawned on Durance 2) for some crushing blow on meph (my merc uses an insight, so no CB for him)

umm i like revives because they are meat sheilds for those 3 minutes and they take attention off your skellys for a while thus they dont lose alot of health thus the less you have to summon

I've been looking at necro weapons, and I'd appreciate if someone could elaborate on Beast VS Bramble.

Fanaticism looks great, but I think the thorns aura would give 800-1000% returned dmg to monsters, which also looks very impressive on paper. Is one much more effective for a summon necro than the other?

When I still played MP my Merc wore bramble armor and my Necro used Beast. Go for both if you can!

OMG I want insight so badly. I have extreme mana problems on my summoner. With that runeword I would be unstoppable.

RIght now my summoner has a Hoto (friend gave it to me) Is it reasonable for me to try and trade the Hoto for a Beast? Or would it not be a fair trade?

lol. i wouldn't call that a "cheap" setup. SoJ's and spider sashes that won't go POP on you aren't exactly easy to come by early in a ladder season....

here's a CHEAP and viable MF skellynec setup:

helm: tarnhelm or any kind of circlet with some resists and maybe some MF or goldfind. shako if your feeling rich. peasonat crown can work well, so can a Crown of Thieves. Wormskull is another option.
ammy: any ammy with resists, MF or GF. tele charges are the BOMB here.
armour: Wealth in low reqs armour or a 4x PTopaz dusk shroud. Stealth and Smoke runewords are cheap and cheerful.
belt: goldwrap or any rare with some nice stats. otherwise who cares. special mention to the Credendum set belt.
rings: a ravenfrost if you feel you need CBF, otherwise any rings with MF or GF on them, i like Dwarfstars on my nec.
gloves: chanceguards for preference, otherwise: who cares look for MF, GF or res.
boots: infernostrides or wartravs are nice. otherwise rares with FRW and either goldfind or MF. special mention to Aldurs Boots as a fine piece of footwear.
wep: a blade of ali-baba is t3h sex. a wizknife if you think resists are super important (i don't).
shield: Rhyme or Splendour in a nice neccy head, homonculous if your feeling rich.
switch: a Naj Puzzler for tele charges if you don't have tele charges anywhere else.

that entire setup would probably cost less than the BeastZ you so casually describe as "cheap".

Ill read it as soon as I can but in the meantime-
Center and colour the titles.
The FHR bp are wierd...Am I stupid or is it just messed up?

And I cant really say thats an inexpensive build from first look. Comparing a Godly Light Sorc it is, but it seems like its a pg build, but in the end gear you mentioned CoH and Hoto. Its no that expensive but my question is- Does the build work well with the alternatives? I mean, with Spirit and Smoke? Same question about Merc gear..

PS- Lacerator is a weapon that has 33 ctc AD. However, you will need a merc type switch in ordder to use it. The reason Im pointing this out is because Reapers Toll, as far as I know, is considered to be an expensive item. However, I dont know what Lacerator is worth, so it might be a cheaper option.

Also, you can always use an items with Dec/AD charges, like Spellsteel. Keep it in you 2nd switch or your inventory. Using the cube formula to refill charges will save you the money, and since there arent ALOT of PI it wont be run out of charges a lot 30 charges are more than enough.

Funny...I used whatever skiller gear I could get (blues, NPC shop stuff, whites...any rares that had them) and I did just fine.

Would have helped to have a Naj's though, tbh.

Yeah a lot of people overthink this build's gear. I would rush people from time to time with my Fishy using crap gear, and I did have a Naj's on switch and it helped tremendously. They would be shocked when I showed them my motly gear set up. People often forget about such things as using the cube to craft items as well. After awhile my Necro had all the good stuff-Enigma, Homu, Beast, etc...but that was just icing on the cake.

Well mine was usually a ladder mfer so I'd be using topaz'd/mf gear.

I did the same before as well-as much MF on the Fishy as I could get-worked well, I preferred MFing certain Bosses/areas with the Necro over my Sorc. This topic though in my opinion has been beaten to death, seeing as a lot of people whether Bnet or SP use a Necro as a starter char to MF for the ones to be made later. Someone should write a guide on early game Fishy tactics, where to put skill points, MF tips, etc. Not me, I don't have the patience for that stuff nor experience. All in all I guess it keeps the new threads coming, so I shouldn't be complaining.
