Since I've taken down my deviantART page for an indefinite period of time, I figured I'd show some recent drawings I'm working on.

First up...is my own mechanical creation, the Seraph MkII. In school I'd always make tiny versions of this pose with the wings of light unfurled hovering triumphantly in the sky...but I've never made an actual drawing/scene with it. So here we are. Since the bottom looked a bit empty, I added another pair of thruster "wings" to fill in the empty space. The SMkII is supposed to have only 6 true wings of light.

Next needs a bit of explaining. I was watching some episodes of Gundam Wing and I noticed early in Wing Zero's debut it had one great pose sitting out there in space. Granted, there were a ton of close ups and angles before this one pose...but it was great. Like it was floating down from heaven to bring divine judgement. Anyway...first here's the pose I was inspired by.

Now I didn't want to simply draw this version of Wing Zero with the same pose. There's no skill in that. So I decided to apply that pose...to the other Zero...Wing Zero Custom. So this is what I came up with:

Thanks.

Hopefully if I can find the tutorials I can finish them up to look professional grade.

Hah! Far from it. Too many smudges and feathered lines. I need to ink the lineart in and clean it up on PS. THEN I need to color/shade everything. Still haven't decided what style I'll use on the Wing Zero. I could use my style, but I wanted to use the "anime style" of having sudden color breaks to make it look like it was done at a studio, but I love one color gradually taking over another.

Anyway...it's far from professional as it is.

Very nice Omni. Good luck finishing it.Heh, thanks. I'll need it. I'm still a total newb at photoshop.

wow....im trying to get into drawing and now i realize how much more i need to work at it =) i cant take a random gundam on t.v. and make a drawing heheEh, it's little challenges like that that put me to the limit. Granted, it's a little easier since I'm basing a pose directly on another piece...but to change the subject adds a nice challenge. But I make the whole mech thing look easy...they're my specialty.

You are a fan of gundam Wing as well. I find that Heavy Arm Custom looks good also.I'm a fan of Gundam, period. Not just a particular series. All of the customs really looked great in Endless Waltz. I loved how Heavyarms got double the firepower in almost every aspect though. The assault shroud on the Deathscythe really added to his look as well. And The sheer size of Sandrock's shotels made me love it as a melee suit. Tallgeese III was a nice surprise, too. I have to say I was disappointed in Altron though...the dragon fangs were changed...but that's about it. He didn't keep any of his other cool goodies like the random binder wings, the tail cannon or even the flamethrowers in the claws. It made me sad. But turning Wing Zero into an angel made it all worth it.

Ya, I draw too. I was in some art classes in school when i was little because i was a pretty decent artist when i was little, and since then I've improved a lot. Not real big with scanning and stuff like that, but if I learn I'd definetly post a few scetches. :D

I learned it all on my own. Art classes did nothing to me but make me disregard people telling me how to do things, and thus I failed them.

Ya, I had that same problem for a while, because I'm very hard-headed. :D
After a while I just realized that my art teacher "most likely, lol" knew more about it than me, considering I was like 8, and he was like 50.

Eh...I don't base it on age. She would give us a style to go with...then wouldn't like my subject or something. After a while I gave up on trying to please her, crapped out her assignments and worked on my own pieces with my spare time.

Pretty sweet. It's strange though, how many people who are on the site are artists. I guess we all are fascinated by the same types of things, Diablo for example

Heh...I kind of get surprised, too. We didn't have that many artists (or ones that posted in this section) before the reset. This version of the forum seems to have attracted more though. Always a good thing.

I admit, I don't always like drawing what people tell me to, but I think art classes do help. It pushes you to try harder on a picture, take it more seriously than just a sketch.
But you might always draw seriously anyway, I'm just speaking from personal experience.

Here is my concept on it:

If you can learn to nicely draw something you dont want to draw, then imagine what you can do with something you do want to draw.

The way I view my drawings is that if I don't put my all into them...they will end up looking half as good as they end up. No sense in "for fun" and "serious" drawings...they're both one and the same, to me. I want my drawings to look good, regardless of the reason I'm drawing them. I just have problems with people telling me HOW to draw them.

My point proven when so many people got on my case for only drawing "anime" or "cartoons". For a portfolio sketch I drew my cat (a maine coon) and it came out almost flawless. The question on my ability to do realism quickly disappeared. I can do realism or other styles of drawing. I choose not to because reality doesn't impress me.

Gundam Wing was good for a first series to watch...but it's far from the best. Overpowered /invincible suits bore me.

Give me 08th MS team, 0083, Zeta and Gundam OO any day. I love battle damage, it informs you that there are limits.

Lol well a decent amount are still out for DVD. Zeta I think is out (among the best of any gundam series) but I'm not a fan of the voice changes for Amuro/Char/etc. Still a damn good story.

Still not sure if Gundam ZZ or X came out to the US...but it'd be nice if they did. I heard Turn A might have come over...but the mobile suit designs on that one kind of irk me.
