I have been very patient with people pinning this all on me and making outrageous claims based on absolutely nothing, but talking about people as a "NEWB" and suggesting that someone "make the NEWB pay" etc is a poor way to ensure you remain welcome.

Indeed - I am doing my best given what I have to work with. I'm not banning anyone who's obeying the rules, and I've given generous warnings to those who have stepped over the line.

The only reason anyone will have a problem with me is if they're being rude, spamming, flaming, trolling, etc. I'm not here to do anything but make sure people play nice. There is no reason that everyone here can't just be nice to each other and obey the rules.

Now while I must admit I was a litle ticked off at the whole idea of the reset we all have to remember we dont "live" i a little town like jiggy says. While I think we should have the right to speak our minds within reason this is all getting old. REalise that you signed up to a forum and agreed to abide by certain conditions and the fact that one of those conditions is that: ***Rules can be changed at anytime. If the rules do change you will be notified by having to accept to the rules again*** taken directly from the rule list you agreed too. I agree there was probably a better way for things to happen I am getting tired of hearing all the ranting about it. If you don't like the forum just don't post it's that easy. All of the more active posters are here for one reason and that is to converse with fellow gamers. Let the rest of the peeps on here use lewt if they wish and leave it be. From what I've seen, you're not the one people should be mad at...

You just came right before all this crap happened, and people are blaming you....when, you came BECAUSE of what was about to happen...also, you're the only admin making public appearances, making it easier to target you.

Respect without trust and familiarity can be hard to achieve. So far the faceless "administrator" and the enigmatic Sophist aren't the greatest faces to trust, mostly because we have no idea about them.

Apparently there's a ban on my head for bringing this up, but the god account was said to be run by kungfu = wtf? While the character generals obviously showed than shin (or someone with access to his account) was behind it... kungfu is still somewhat of a mind****.

Bring that rambling back on topic, the forum has just been completely reset, we've been given an admin who reveals nothing about themself, then told that the previous admin had been trolling this forum, and now we're given the 2nd new admin in a month. With familiarity will come respect. Show us that you're human, chill with the members, and don't set yourselves apart above your glass ceiling (at least not visibly to the member group) and with that will come respect.


EDIT: With the 4 posts that I just crossposted with, I'm not trying to blame anyone. Just giving some advice mainly for the admin group.

This is something I find so frustrating: I do not demand respect as an admin. Via several PMs with other users and I believe in a couple posts I've pointed out that respect is a key issue between people, admin or otherwise. This has and will cause confusion. A lot of the members are kids, so they think this is just a game. I talk to you now as a businessman. For you, this is a job and the first rule of ANY JOB is ;

"INSPECT YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND CHANGE NOTHING!".

Once a inventory of your current situation is taken then and ONLY then should consider any changes.

The site was working fine and it was changed.

Now if you are not responsible for the recent happenings feel free to point the finger at the appropriate person and I will discuss this with them.

Chilling-wise, not personal details as in DOB/hair colour. I know I've never given out the latter on the internet... what is important is to build a character - reveal your perks, interests, have some individual distinct way of posting rather than trying to stay absolutely neutral.

Most importantly is to act just the same as a member for anything that isn't strictly moderating or admin duties. When someone steps over the line, kick into mod gear and PM them about it, give them a warning, whatever. When the site needs updating, kick into admin gear and do the update, maybe make a note about it in an upgrades/site status subforum. Otherwise, be a member, be honest and candid, don't hold back your own opinion. Treat everyone else as equals. I know I'm guilty of not doing it sometimes, and that makes me sound like a prick.

The fact that Sophist is actually on most of the time and answering questions and talking with us is more than I have seen on some other sites. My part in this thread is over with. All I have is say is agreeing with the respect is not given, it is earned which I put in another thread. Basically, since we've all been members for some time before Sophist even landed, we know each other somewhat. The Admins kind of show up and suddenly decide on changes mysteriously and tell how things are going to be run (much different than previous). We overreacted, sure but lack of notice and an obvious ignorance for our confusion is some of which that brought the frustration.

Just because a forum resets (which is odd in itself to me) but anyways to the point, just because someone is confused with what is going on should not they get banned.

Inform beforehand and people will not be shocked, surprised and pissed off.

Can't forget Lewt was once a mysterious member (yet with the cute, white colour) before as well.

If someone is confused about a situation, knows nothing about situation, or only has hear-say to act on, that person ought to either find out what is going on, or wait before acting. Acting on a lack of knowledge or hear-say is always bad, as demonstrated by the drama near the end of the last incarnation of the forums.

Regarding there being a "Lewt" account, anyone is welcome to register on the boards, so long as they do not spam / etc and they obey the rules.

I understand but all we were doing was talking about it. And yes, frustrated and pissed off, yes thus the "flaming" or whatever it is called these days.

I PM'd kungfu and got no response to my question. I wasn't happy but he gave me nothing. So I discussed with others, clearly unhappy with the situation. But I don't see how we all got banned was the point.

I was the only one who took it "out of bounds". Other than hiya but he was already banned.

i agree about this, you came at just the wrong time and since the other admins rarely post here you became the target at which we directed our questions, confusion and anger for lack of info. being temp banned (or in DOMs case perm banned) did not help at all. even the post you made about forum maintenance could have included more info on what was happening. i cant remember even getting a warning before getting temp banned. wouldnt that be appropriate?

The temp bans were handed out because people were well outside the bounds of acceptable behaviour for the forums, and no other reason.

If someone is confused about a situation, knows nothing about situation, or only has hear-say to act on, that person ought to either find out what is going on, or wait before acting. Acting on a lack of knowledge or hear-say is always bad, as demonstrated by the drama near the end of the last incarnation of the forums.


if the admins (not necessarily you) had given proper info on what was going to happen before starting with maintenance do you think the "drama" that was caused would have happened? i think not.

I am veryyy new to the forum. So don't tear me apart, well go ahead if you must. But it seems like the majority of Veteran members are kinda voting to move on. I mean i was not around pre reset but it almost seems like the this could trigger another reset or the death of the forum. And when it comes to dead forums, i've seen many assasinated.

Did that cross the line?

i have moved on. i got temp banned, the forum got reset and im back. if i hadnt gotten over it i wouldnt be here or i would be spamming and breaking all the rules i can. and i doubt i would have spammed since i hate spammers.

he isnt all that bad really. just came in at the wrong time and since he is the admin that post and talk with other members the most, he got targeted. i doubt a new admin could just come in and change everything in 2 days or so.
