How effective is a Fire Golem against a fire sorc? It does have fire absorb on it. I was thinking you could stand behind it and attack in safety (out of explosion area) while the fire sorc was back spraying fireballs. Also, I thought while teleporting around the fire golem would still be on top of you so the fire golem would absorb the main fireball damage and you would just take the explosion damage. Btw, this is for a bone necro.

Thoughts?

well for starters the sorc is going to target you and not the golem, and whenever i tele with summons i usually take all the dmg until i get out of the way and let my summons spread out so....idk that it would make much of a difference in your dueling besides a blocked shot every now and then

You'll be better off teleing (and copping the minion stack) than trying to hide behind your golem. Note that the 'main fireball damage' and 'explosion damage' are the same thing.

Note that fire golems are immune to fire, and don't heal from it.

Golems and other summons have a wonderful habit of not giving a crap what happens to their summoner...they like to wander around in random directions and occasionally attack anything that comes within range.

What I'm trying to say is that trying to hide a fire golem would be like trying to hide behind a drunken homeless dude.

Hopefully the sorc would be smart enough to move a little bit and attack you instead.

Agreed, but more like a drunken homeless dude on fire.

I heard someone talking about this being effective before. I thought I would get different opinions on this subject before hand. So I posted this a couple different places and got different opinions. However, most people told me it was not going to make much of a difference. Since about the only character I really focus on making is bone necros. I thought "eh why not place a point in Fire Golem anyway". Needless to say, I was very impressed with the results. It has saved my butt quite a few times against fire sorcs. Perhaps, it is my "style" of dueling? I just thought I would share my results on this experiment.

belive it or not, but the golem doesnt absorb fire damage. a fire golem is 100% immune to fire, there for it cannot absorb any damage since its not taking any. in order for a fire golem to absorb fire damage and heal itself, it's resistances have to first be lowered Enough to actually take damage from the fire attack. take in consideration, that most necros have summon resist, so thats going to be alot of -fire resists just to get him to absorb it. but i think the real question, you're trying to ask is will it work, since its Fire immune. also cast and crecast it to have a 100% fire, 100% physical, damage attack. <<<< drains mana alot though.
