My friend and I are going to both be paladins, starting out in normal and working our way up. his pally is already lvl 15ish and in act 2, and i'm looking to join in with him. Here is my question:
I am going to be a paladin specializing in defensive auras, and he will be offensive auras.
Where should I place my points in the talent tree for the first 15 levels, and the possibly from there on?

Hmmm that one is really hard to answer actually, cuase it would really depend on the type of build you want. Even if your primarily out of one tree, its common on a paladin to have synergies in other trees. Id suggest looking up some searches on google or look at the paladin guides here.

Sadly, while there are many offensive auras which benefit from sinking a lot of points into (fanat, conviction, holy shock, holy freeze, concentration) most defensive auras are 1-point wonders or used solely as synergies, thanks to the overwhelming diminishing returns smacked onto them.
Now that I've gone about my negative rant, what are your high-level roles going to be? If you want to be a medic, max prayer/1 meditation/max holy bolt will keep your partner alive through pretty much anything (except IM).
If you'll have points to spare later on, I'd invest them in resist fire/cold/lightning, ~10 in each for both the passive and active max res bonuses. Plus, there's nothing more anti-gloam than a resist lightning/holy bolt paladin :p.
If you're planning on tanking and attacking, then I'd just got for the resist auras and whatever combat skills you want. An avenger/angel (angel = avenger who runs salvation [or the single resist auras where more useful] rather than conviction) build would be a very interesting and effective combination, and probably the most harmonious way to get around.
