Ok I truly love playin as a trapsin and I have always played them on Bnet. If I were to make a traper what would I do about imunes in hell. I cannot afford to make Infinity (maybe its insight Nfs) so what whould I do?

fire blast.

i'm pretty amazed why this skill is often overlooked. after laying 5 traps that shoots ~10 times, you can fire blast individual enemies simutaneously as they're fried from lightning.

against LIs, cast death sentries. fireblast can get you that first kill. moreover, fireblast gives DS more shots.

with decent amount of +skills, your fireblast can deal ~3k to 4k. and at 9 frame trap laying, it's does decent damage on its own =)

Should I max Fireblast or just put 1 pt?

You get an extra blast out of your DS for every 3 points in FB, so I put 18, then I maxed it. Between LS, DS & FB, and a merc with insight, you can just keep lobbing things until everyone's dead. I use insight because even if you get only 15 on the Meditation you almost never run out of mana, besides infinity is WAY to expensive.

Yes max Fireblast, it's your backup attack and therefor should do decent dmg.

As HiTS already said, Insight is the best weapon for your merc (if Infinity is no option).

Ok so can someone make a guide on where to place skills, weapons/armor, stats, and second best items,etc?
and would the stats be like this?
20 fire blast
20 cb
20 ls
20 ds
20 shadow master (all remaining pts)
I am not really sure about the items.
so I am not sure about the stats

@ Saracen the only way you could hit 3-4k damage is with ALL of its synergies maxed and at least 10 +skills

If you don't want to invest heavy points in fireblast, you could mindblast your enemies and convert some to fight for you. A merc is also really helpful. Once you get a kill or two, death sentries should be able to speed up the job by quite a bit. Cloak of shadows is really useful for getting that first kill with a merc.

Yeah, I've never had problems getting that first kill for DS, make sure you got a solid (17+) Shadow Master and a merc w/ ll and dr.

SM is an acquired taste. I like them, but there are a great many specialist assassins who don't and will swear blind that any shadow is a waste of points. Also, be prepared to recast her a lot, if yours are anything like mine, then tend to disappear on a regular basis.

So can someone make a rough draft guide using shadow master?

In many ways the shadow master is a set and forget summon. The shadow warrior you have some control over, it will only use the abilities that you have active, the shadow master does her own thing. Most other summoned allies are just melee or just range attack, the SM does both. The AI is fairly good in that it usually tried to melee attack individual monsters and cast traps or mind blast groups. I say usually, because at the most inopportune time she can do the unexpected and leave you holding the bag. I've already mentioned her short attention span, sometimes you need to cast her a half a dozen times per session, other times just once. She also has a tendency to override your traps with ones of her own, usually all a lower skill level, this alone is enough for a lot of trappers to not use her. I just recast mine over hers, for me that's not a great hassle. Sometimes she'll mind blast the last monster left standing and you have to wait until it runs over before continuing the fight, an annoyance but a minor one. I've heard a rumour that a SM will tend to use the abilities that you have the most skill points in, but I've never had it confirmed. Finally, I heard someone say about the SM once: "I do my own thing and let her do her own thing and in the end we get the job done" That is probably the the best way to look at her.

BTW this isn't any sort of guide, rather an assorted selection of experiences and opinions.

Good info on the SM HiTS and good tip terrn300, but could someone creat some sort of guide using Fire blast and 17 pts in SM?

i don't see how this could be difficult..

for the lvl17 SM, maybe a couple of points and some +shadow skills gear could get you that level.

as for fireblast, it's actually synergized by your lightning traps.

ie;

max lightning sentry and death sentry (main killing skills)
max 1 more lightning sentry synergy and fireblast, and you're done.

the only difference is that you sacrifice a third LS synergy for FB =)

Ok I have just found this guide and I think it will work wonders for me,
http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=513
It uses lightning and Fb for imunes
Also it is an untwinked so I can start off with virtually nothing which is good as I am just starting SP.

@legendary slasher

it's great that you have an infinity. unfortunately, most sp-ers don't.. so, they have to go around the LI problem..
