Does anyone in here play Morrowind or Oblivion? :) I think the games is awsome.. Morrowind abit better for the more rpg-stylish era.. I have a lvl22 Kahjiit with Assasin/Thief abilitys on Oblivion :) Just cleared out the Thief Guild, ghonna head for some quests on The mage Guild!

Morowind was better I think but then I also had it on the xbox so it wasnt as easy to abuse the game although you still can.

Morrowind did seem to have a better atmosphere about it, but Oblivion is great.

I wish Morrowind had Oblivion's combat. Then it'd be perfect.

I have Oblivion and it's a very good game, but I find flaws in it. I like non-linear games and side quests, but Oblivion has far too many, and the combat is fun, but rarely if EVER challenging at all. Shivering Isles did, though, heavily improve on it. Glad I bought that expansion for it, along with Knights of the Nine.

They are both excellent games, but Oblivion, although it looks better, is miniscule compared to Morrowind in both Physical size, things you can do, items, and so on. Also, I loved raiding houses in Balmora, making sure I found the biggest one, killing the owner, selling everything inside, and then filling all shelves, bookcases, and tables with plundered items from quests and such. Oblivion has some very nice characteristics, but in terms of replay value and that true "wow wtf do i do this world is too big for me!!1!" feeling, I think Morrowind wins. Also, Oblivion is way too easy, all you have to do is easily level up and you automatically get daedric and glass armor?!?! In morrowind, if you see a guy walking around some town with a full steel suit or something your immediate reaction is "OMFG I MUST KILL HIM FOR ARMORZZZ!!!!" But you cant! because you have all leather armor, and the guards just destroy you, in Oblivion, look at the guards wrong and they die on hardest difficulty, and anyone you see with steel armor is a joke, because you have have full, enchanted daedric....

tl;dr Morrowind is better because it is more challenging, has better replay value, huge in size in many aspects compared to the Oblivion world, and in my fun is much more fun.

Then my advice is, get Morrowind. It's not that a linear-game. No compass, no quest-marker, no worldmap at all. You must get hints from people, books and so on. Not even a fasttravel on Morrowind.. :)

Yeah, I've heard good things about Morrowind. I probably will get it sooner or later, but for right now the Shivering Isles is keeping my company--I have yet to complete this huge expansion.

i got Oblivion for my box and its a great game, but after some hours spent in it i got bored and now i just play from time to time for an hour or so. but still a great game.

actually the world of oblivion is physically bigger than morrowind (unless the info i found is inaccurate), but morrowind seems so much bigger because you cant fast travel and since it doesnt have a compass to show you the way to quests and other things it seems even bigger.

But Due to the fact I bought Mass Effect :D Ill be away for a bit

you have Mass Effect? cool! what do you think about the game? imo its awesome and i just love playing it. im about to play some Mass Effect right now.

btw i never got around to adding you on XBL. what was your account name?

Waht are you talking about. There is a world map and it does mark all places of intrest if someone tells you where it is or you find it on your own. Also you can kida fast travel through the mages guild or use mar and recall spell. Also it is just as linear if you don't get off on some other quest.

I played Morrowind for some time and game is really huge. I've barely touched the main plot, but at least reached a point where I can dispose most opponents with little effort, at least in areas I've ventured. Some Deadric temples are still hard though ( Storm Atronarchs anyone? ^^ ). Leveling sistem was quite confusing at the start, so I've messed up a bit... damn x5 bonus modifiers were hard to get >.<.
The only thing I wished for was some plugin or patch to remove that blighted Cliff Runners who were really annoying at times ;).

Oblivion ended with over hour and a half of customisation of my character, and entering the open world... "What, I have to start Morrowind once again from scratch?!?!"

Morrowind isnt the same as Oblivion by far. less item slots on your char from what i have noticed, quick travel from wherever you stand to any explored/found dungeon, village or other points of interests. all the main towns are available for fast travel from the moment you exit the sewers.

but its both the same kind of game so it is of course similar :D

Yes, Morrowind feels much bigger also then Oblivion, because it's diffirent islands as well. Don't forget it's no quest-markers as well like in oblivion.. >_>

thats why it feels so much bigger. i havnt completed Oblivion though, but i know how large the map is, and running from 1 side to the other takes... a long time. i spent almost 2 hours running from the sewers where you start and to the top of the highest mountain i saw. so the map is very large, but if you use fast travel it will seem like a tiny world.

havnt tried with knights of the nine of shivering isles though. probably some new places to explore that makes it even bigger. but its also probably the same with the xpacs for Morrowind.

i own morrowind(on PC) and i have to say its an amazing game huge, detailed, chalenging and so much more. also there is a form of fast travel(not sure if everyone can get it) a friend of mine found "boots of blinding speed" which let him travel at an amazing speed(however your screen goes black and you have to navigate via the minimap) also a tip: when you first start head to balmora and join the mages guild on about the third quest you get to stand unatended an a desk which has soulstones all over it GRAB THEM there is one worth 60000+ gold
