most summoners are fishymancers. i wanted to make a support character, that did not rely on CE, and was able to protect my party, at the same time be able to dish out some major damage, while i sit back and watch tv, read a book, etc (j/k)

Skill Points
20 Skel
20 skel mast
20 skel mag
1 revive
20 golem mast
20 clay golem(the 20k life makes for an interesting tank)
1 amp (increase damage.)

Gear:

Helm:
Harlequin Crest: mana\life and skills...

Armor:
Enigma. skills\teleswarming

weapon1/shield 1
beast/Homunculus: skills\faster hitrates\added damage

weapon2/shield
Arm of king Leoric/spirit: summoning prebuff

weapon3 (on char or in stash) cta: if your golem 40k life isnt enough...

Ammy
+3 summon:

belt
Verdungos: dr incase you get hit

Gloves:
Trangs

boots:
marrowwalk

rings: (what ever goodies you can find)

add in a torch, and a anni 4x summon charmsarms ....

For the merc:

act 2 merc (might)
Guillaume's Face (35% cb)
Infinity
Fort

if you havent guessed it, this is a pure summon build. I made this more of a support char then a solo fighter, but it does well on its own.

max skele\mage\mastrey 1st
max clay golem last. but get at least 1 in the skill before you pump golem mastery

your clay golem acts as the commander with 50k life, and the ability to slow things. Next your merc takes a big chunk of the physical\elemental reists away so your mage skeletons arent a giant waste in hell, and lastly beast adds Fanaticism, which increses damange, but more importanly hit rates for the skelies...

overall its a fun build

commandomancer, yeah it is a fun build, got a guide myself for the commandomancer on this site, havent updated it lately, but anytime you use beast with a necromancer, its automatically a commandomancer, due to the aura, and the AR boost. but most nercos still just sit back even with beast. as for a tank the iron golem would serve as a better tank, due to the mods it can recieve from the items. Everyone says that the clay is best for the huge life and the slow's target, but they forget that the iron golem has the highest defense of the golems and also has huge life, plus thorns and the item mods. Iron is the better tank.

actually clay golem would still beat iron golem in tanking ability due to the slow/higher life/recastability..

iron golem is better for offense. and thorns' damage return is peanuts in 1.11..

wouldnt a tank be offensive, i mean, you wouldn't send an abrams tank to soak up bullets/missle would you? no you send it out as a heavy support to blow s*** up, the ability to be untouched by reagular bullets is just a plus :D all im saying is that if im going to have something taking a beating while i do whatever, i at least want it to dish damage out too, and with an iron golem you can get crushing blow, leech life, prevent monster heal, and even slows target, just depends on the item. and sense it has huge defense then it would be the same as having huge life. the more defense the less it'll be hit, the less it gets hurt, the longer it can tank.

usually in gaming terms, tanks mean characters that could soak/withstand as much damage possible..

as for iron golem's defense, it doesn't add that significantly much. and it's pretty item dependent as well.

as for clay golem, there's the slow. there's the huge life. and as long as you have mana, you'll never lose sight of your clay golem =)

If you make IG out of an item with 3X% Fire Res and 3X% Cold Res (X is based on the difference between 100 and your summon resist) your IG will be elementall immune (100% resist all) unless under lower resist/conviction. If made in an item with this, defense, and life leech/crushing blow some how, leet cakes. I found Tomb Reaver to be best, though some what expensive, with Amn/Ber/Ber he will attack fast, with significant damage and crushing blow, with unbreakable resists and life leech. And raise a bonus man if he ever kills 10 guys or gets lucky :P

The best tanker probably would be a toothrow IG with a 15 Fire / 30 cold res jewel bangin defense and res with OW application.

Bone snap with Amn is cheap and brutal, eth is sexy style too.
