You can look at the ilvl and fingerprint of the item.

If your using ATMA your playing sp so in order to obtain a duped item you would have to accidently (or on purpose) dupe it yourself with atma or... if you do SP lan games with hamachi, trade for an item thats been duped prior to trading. Personally i dont trade for any high lvl item cause you just never know, by the time you find out tis too late. You could find out on atma, but then you go back to the trader and most the time... they dont respont or go hostile on you. or 2 the item just vanishes.

Does The Fingerprint Have To Be The Same If There A Dupe

it is possible for items to have the same fingerprints. but this is rare. and if it's the similar item, the chance is even more rare. the latter is 99.99% likely a dupe.
as to your question on how to check dupes, use the ATMA's dupe detector. or use flavie's report generator. it has it's own dupes/duplicate detector =)

you have to export/import the item i think, i never used it cause i dont dupe items on it or anywhere else, im real careful about that.

The fingerprint is your guide to tell you which is duped and which is not.

I've thought of the same thing...
What does a dupe-fingerprint look like?

A regular finger print looks random series of numbers and letters
often times a duped item will have a bunch of 0's in it such as sdf00000 or simular. Thing with atma, you can actually export the item without deleting it off your item list, then import it back on the list and now it will show you have 2 items instead of 1. However the fingerprint in that case would be the exact same thing. I know ive done it on accident. But if its program dupe just look at the print an if it dont seem so random it could be a duped item. Another key thing, iLVL compaired to the item itself. if the item lvl dont match up like it should given mods an item specifics, its probably a duped item. Example, The Stone of Jordan isnt going to have an iLVL of 1 if it was spawned naturally...

Hmmm. So items created via hero editor will have the ilvl of lv1?
Interesting....
New way to discover hacked items. ;)

No skull, that was an example of what could be... :p dont be twisting my words like that :) but if something that "normally" has an ilvl of say 42 and you trade for one and turns out item lvl 20... chances are its a dupe you know that much.

Ok ,thanks for that.
Clear enough to know what's going wrong to see a SoJ and Tyrael's Might in ilvl 1 ;)

You can easily change the ilvl or the fingerprint...

i think that you can't be sure (100%) if item is duped or not, correct me if i'm wrong

the best way to get the item is to find it yourself :) hehe

No there is not a 100% sure way to tell, that would just be very difficult even for a program to figure out. But examples above are just ways to tell if it COULD BE a dupe.
