Smiter Weapon Question?

Im working on my first smiter and I have a question about what weapon to use. I know a lot of people say to use grief, but why wouldnt people use last wish instead?

I have both weapons in his stash already and I plan on testing them both out when I level to use them, but wouldnt a lvl ## might aura be better instead of just +damage?

Like I said this is my first smiter so any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

You already have plenty of off-weapon ED from Fanaticism and Smite. Might doesn't add nearly as much as Grief. Grief is the rough equivalent of +90 to Holy Shield in terms of raw damage. So... level 17 Might or +90 to Holy Shield?

The Crushing Blow on Last Wish is GFG vs. an opponent with 600K life (i.e. Ubers), but for pure non-CB damage, Grief is the unrivaled king.

Along with Zarley's explanation is speed.

Last Wish doesn't have any speed on it, and a Grief has plenty.
If you're going for PvM, this isn't much of a problem, but if you do any PvP whatsoever, you'll get destroyed without IAS.

Ahhh ok. Thanks for the explanation. So I should use Grief only when I pvp and use Last Wish for when I do Ubers then?

Yep last wish is your first choice for PvM, CB, fade, life tap those are vitals! For PvP use Grief because of the speed increase and damage addition.

well..if ur going 2 pvp..use grief..if u want 2 uber use last wish...

Thanks guys for your help. I have one more question actually. but its about the helm I plan to use now lol. I have a 30 res 2 open socket CoA. Along with my Dungos and CoH/Enigma I have 8% dr from CoH/Enigma, 12% CoA, and 15% Dungos, should I use Ber-Ber in the open sockets or use Ber-Um because my resists are still kinda low when I use enigma, around 25% without Hell anya yet. The total DR without Ber-Ber is 35% and with Ber-Ber that would actually take me over the DR limit, any insight would be appreciated.

You can get res from charms, and you can't get DR%.

Bers get you easy DR if you're PvPing with your smiter. Res is easy to pick up elsewhere on a pally (i.e. don't use a fookin hoz or exile in UT).

I'm an avid supporter of Enigmas on a Smiter.


Mind you, though, I'm purely PvP.

The strength bonus is amazingly handy for using high-strength items like a CoA.

I have an Enigma on my smiter simply for getting around faster (i.e. key runs, rushes, etc.) Mind you I dont use enigma when Im doing Ubers I always switch over to my CoH and I always make sure that Fade from my last wish has procced giving me a total of about 197 total resists when I go in so mephs convic aura really doesnt phase my guy that much ;)

as they all said before go with the ber ber it will help you in pvp and res charms are very easy to find.
