Okay. So I've been using a hero editor for single player trying to figure out the exact build I plan on using for my first character I will be leveling to 99 on battle.net. My problem and question comes down to two skills. I'll explain a little further down.

It's going to be a fire claw druid. I already know the stat point allocation for maximum efficiency and the gear is as follows:

Fire faceted Jalal's mane
Fire faceted Stormshield
six socket phase blade with shaels/fire facet and also a beast berserker axe just to have both..
verdungos and thundergods belts for different situations..
soul drainer, magefist and draculs grasp for dif. situations..
gore rider boots
bul-kathos/ravenfrost
maras kaleidoscope
sacred armor fortitude and also a chains of honor for dif. situations..
anni/druid torch
8x shapeshift grand charms
8x vita small charms

This gear setup may change later of course

on switch i have spirit and hoto for when a barb is in the party and CTA for when there's not..

the merc will be defiance and equipped with infinity, andys visage, and another fortitude...possibly another setup later as well

The skills are as follows:

werewolf - 1
lycanthropy - 1
feral rage - 1
werebear - 1
maul - 1
fire claws - 20
shock wave - 1

raven - 1
spirit wolf - 1
dire wolf - 1
grizzly - 1 (i love this pet, it's a must have for me)
oak sage - This is one of the two skills I'm having trouble with deciding.

Firestorm - 20
Molten boulder - This is the other skill I can't decide on.
Fissue - 20
Volcano - 20

Okay. So without barb buffs - I'll be having around 10k defense in werewolf form, 14k defense in werebear form, around 14k AR in werebear and 19k AR in werewolf, and max resists.

Back to the problem...two options:

Option 1:
oak sage - 1 point
molten boulder - 19 points

This gives me around 19k or 20k fire claw dmg in either form and around 4300 life in werebear form without barb buffs. Most mobs in hell seem to die in around 1 hit.

Option 2:
oak sage - 19 points
molten boulder - 1 point

This gives me around 15k or 16k fire claw dmg in either form and around 5400 life in werebear form without barb buffs. Most mobs in hell still seem to die in around 1 to 2 hits and I have more than 1k life more than the first option. Oak sage lives longer as does the bear and merc. Also, party members receive a better bonus from the oak sage obviously

My concern however, is that I'll be taking the time to get this char to 99 and although I've done very little d2 pvp in my time I may do more of it in the future. Between these two options...as far as pvp goes.. I don't know which is better.

Any thoughts and opinions on these two options would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you think there might be other options besides the two I suggested that would make this build even more efficient, that would be appreciated too.

Hmmmm... The ability to deliver more damage or stand for a longer period?

My personal opinion will be damage. The higher damage you delivered, the faster your enemies drop, and the faster you do your leveling. You have a huge HP in werebear already so try to kill faster ;)

Just a suggestion :)

Heres the guide I used for my fireclaw druid.

that does make a lot of sense skullcaptain =D

what about this? 1 point in oak, dropping the 1 in shock wave and having 20 in molten boulder will max the dmg and keep things nice and neat.....not sure how much not having shockwave will affect the build though

and btw i'm gonna check that guide right now oilerfan...thanks

Me either, in fact I don't really touch Druid yet..

Just my opinion about the damage vs life thing..

never ever drop that 1 point in shockwave. you'll never know how useful it is till you try it. in fact, get it up to at least lvl15 with +skills to maximise it's potential.

yeah i've been tinkering with the build some more after looking at the one oilerfan linked....i think i'm gonna go with just a 3 synergy fireclaw instead of 4...the dmg will still be around 14k or so ...and instead of putting the rest of the points into oak sage i'll do lycanthropy instead...it's the same amount of life bonus....not for the rest of the party of course..but since the oak sage dies a lot it'll be more efficient for duels.

and yeah i'm gonna keep shockwave...it is actually an awesome skill.

That's exacly what my old fc had. In pvp life is very important. My werebear had 5k hp and could tank everything and kill everything pretty easily.

I would suggest you go for the second option with more life and more bonus to your party members. The are more than enough GG baal runs going around in which you can just sit back with an ondals, and take in all the experience.
Anyone can be god at pvp, just takes a lot of practice and getting used to(something i also plan on accomplishing in the future :D)

Use ap coh, fort is useless, you don't need the 300ed. For the skills I would put 9 in lycan and 9 in molten, like this you have a shared skill points. That's what I did on my fc druid and he hits around 15k.
