Hi I've just started a paladin for the 1st time and I was wondering if someone can help me decide on a good steady build to go as I am leaning towards hammmerdin thus far but anyother useful suggestions or guides for hammerdins or other pallys are well apreciated.

Currently i have a lvl 53 din usin zeal and holy freeze, and a few other things, really decent build for pvm but BM on pvp cause of the holy freeze.
http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=542 theres a link, and theres a few different variations too to cater to diff play styles. mine is usin the first guide though, Nice thing here is you actually get in the action of every fight! no standing back and letting hammers do the job. (i personaly thing spamin hammers is a lil boring, no aim and dont have to be really close to kill) but anyway GL :)

as far as the gear...id say
shako..probably ber'd, enigma, arachnids, maras, 2 bks, hoto, hoz, waterwalks and magefists.

id say to switch to spirit during PvP.
for PvM...Hoz> Spirit
the gear i told him was for PvM cuz i only play PvM....he didnt specify anything...so i assumed.

what and therey're sooo cheap to come by are they!!!!
I am like an uber poor noob I have never had a HR the highest I've had is fal and only have 2 current chars in hell with vry low M/F and the acc with both of them on got hacked this morning, so how am I expected to whip that gear up out of no where???

hammerdins don't need to have those gear to be effective.
the cheap version
helm: magic/rare circlets with +skills (can be gambled), lore, peasant crown
armor: skin of vipermagi, stealth, que hagan's wisdom
belt: any crafted caster belt or good rares
weapon: wizspike, suicide branch, spirit (seriously, this rw is cheap yet still godly)
shield: spirit (a hammer pally can own after lvl25 with 2 spirits!)
ammy: magic/rare ammy with +skills (can be gambled as well), eye of etlich
rings: any rare/magic to cover any shortfalls (resists, fcr etc)
gloves: magefist is relatively easy to find already. bloodfist if you don't need any more fcr
boots: anything =P
even with average gear, a hammerdin can get 6++ skills. 5-6k magic damage that has almost no immunes against it is pretty good.
and seriously, it's not the end of the world if you don't have an enigma =P

thx I mean I have some descent equi that I find like I did have a shako at one point but then I got hacked too many times so I deleted that account :(
I know it's not the end of the world if theres no enigma but it does help though :P

If you want a cookie-cutter build like everyone else, then build a Hammerdin, a Fanatic Zealot or a Smiter. If you are a more experienced player who is looking for more of a challenge or want to try something more non-main stream, then why not try something like a Frost Zealot, an Avenger or a Hybrid. I'm presently building a Conviction/Zealot Hybrid based on the inexpensive runeword "Voice of Reason" that has turned out much more powerful than I could have imagined.
