I need to reinstall my d2, and I need to save my single player characters. How can I go about this. I have atma, and i was wondering if I could use that, somehow. Thanks

just copy the whole char file, then put it in a different file folder, reinstall and copy/paste

If you're worried you could simply copy the whole saved folder somewhere and copy it back when you've reinstalled. That way you keep all your .d2x, .txt, .org etc.

Reinstalling D2 does not overwrite the 'save' folder in your D2 directory. Your SP chars will stay put even if you uninstall then reinstall the game.

You can also do what is recommended by previous posters and copy the save file.

Would there be any way I could transfer the characters from one computer to another? I want to have my friend play one character on one of my comps while I play the other.

A single character's files will fit on a floppy, do people still use floppies?, or put them on a mem stick. Assuming the the compters are LANed, there may be a shared folder that you can put it in. You could always burn them onto a CD I suppose. The problem with character sharing is that you have to be very careful about accidentally duping. I have two LANed computers and I only ever transfer one character onto the other computer, never mule anything off while there and always overwrite the old one when transferring back.

if the only thing you gonna do is reinstall, it's easy to just put your save folder on the desktop.
