Personally I've found GFing to be way more profitable than MFing. I mean you can do hundreds of MF runs without finding anything worth trading. But with GFing not only do you MF but you also collect gold which you can use to gamble items that can easily be traded.

I've even found that not only do I gain from the results of GFing (2/20/2 circs from gambling, etc) but I've also found way better items GFing then when I have MFing. For example I can't even remember a good item I've found while MFing...but I've found a 100% perfect eschutas, a vex and an ohm rune and a couple sojs among other things.

To me it just makes more sense to GF.

GF is good IF you can do it right, millions a day...

see, one occy is worth about 2-3 million gold, the trick is that there arent many who will sell occys for gold as many as puls

mf gear= blues, yellows, golds, greens. In return will equal more gold.

gf gear= gold.

The only downside I see is having to return to town to sell items not wanted with the mf gear equipped, also having room in your stash to keep the higher end items :D

a gf barb capable of hell can also equip some descent mf. On mine i have around 2.2k gf and 400 mf. I've found many nice items with him. And gambled many more.

1) You get items for different purposes.
2) You get gold anyways.
3) Sell the items you find for gold.
4) You can do both at the same time.

Magic Finding is fun, and if you have certain items, the gold yielded directly from monsters is much greater (i.e. Mephisto's minions or the Travincal group).

2/20/2 circs

ok ive been trying to figure out what the numbers in some items are but could nevr figure out how to word the question. ive seen ppl use 3 random sets of numbers to describe there items like charms and such but nvr knew wtf the were talkin about. someone plz enlighten me....and tell me how to spell enlighten :)

yea you have a point here especially if you can make huge ammounts of gold in one run , but also most of my best drops have been with my pking chars clearing blood moor to with friends in :P

you have more need for good uniqes, if it`s a bad uniqe you can sell it and you get enough money of mf and uniqes can be traded to something you need.

if you want to gamble a lot, a gf char is your way to go. For me i can find 500k to 1 mill in 2 minutes. There is no way you can do that with a mf char.

I do both.
MF have more options in the finding area, but GF can be very, very profitable. I just love gambling for circlets, rings, claws and amulets, and dont forget that any decent GF build have a decent MF percentage, so you can expect some additional bonuses.

Well you can actually set or even unique items from vendor. I discovered about gambling set when I click on a ring while trading with Anya and she gave me a Cathan's ring. Not sure about unique.

These are the rules about gambling so yeah you can get uniques.



You will mostly get Magic items which may or may not be worth anything to you (hence Gambling).
You can Gamble Set or Unique Items and have the chance to Gamble Exceptional and Elite items as well. Gambling Items appear as Normal Items and can only be revealed as Exceptional or Elite Items after you buy them.
Gambling gives you a place to spend your money on the higher difficulty levels (Nightmare, Hell), and gives you a better chance at getting good Rare and if you're lucky, Set and Unique Exceptional and Elite items that you are looking for. You can also get rare rings and amulets from Gambling which can be more difficult to find from monsters.
Buying all of the items on one screen doesn't help to improve your chances any more than buying them one at a time per screen.
Items are created when you hit the Gamble button on the NPC menu.
You can reset the Gambling menu by exiting the screen, then by clicking on Gamble again. You can continue to do this rapidly until you get the specific type of item you're looking for.
Once you've unlocked all the item types at level 48, the items shown will be the same from then on. However, as you reach higher Character Levels, more Magic Prefixes and Suffixes will show up on items Gambled and you'll have a better chance to get Exceptional and Elite items.
The price for Gambling each item goes up as your character level goes up.
Magic Find in no way affects Gambling.

mmm ok i have a question about chances to get a uniqe from a npc. is it around 1 out of every 200 items that u get a uniqe? if thats true and 1 out of every like 15 coronets is a diadem , 15x200= 3000. that would be the chance to get a uniqe diadem (aka griffons). with a trav run that would give (according to some) a million gold a game, and coronets are like 118k gold then i mean its alot faster to get a griffons like that correct? i mean u can buy counless diadems from the npcs, so long as u got the gold, while baaal very very rarely drops even a blue diadem.

No actually you don't. even with 500 the chances of getting a good unique are low low low.

It's your call. GF is good because you almost ALWAYS found gold, while MF sometimes you can find nothing for days. Sure, you can also gamble nothing for days too, but at least you DO get the gold. And of course, while GF you MF without excpecting, which is the best way to MF.

Ok my friend said last night that they cut out the ability to gamble uniqes in version 1.11
However all I have palyed is 1.11, so why did I gamble uniqes? Also what Is the chance to get a uniqe from a npc?

From the b.net site, it says the chance is 1/2000 for uniques.

So...why not mf and gf at the same time? A Summoner can throw on a ton of goldfind gear (which also happens to bring quite a lot of mf with it) and tear through Travincal in around a minute. You'll reliably get 500k+ per run and a whole ton of magical items to boot.

For the record, 1 million gold is a bit of a stretch. I think the most I've ever gotten is something around 1.2 mil, and that was with some rather absurd drops by the council and 2 champ packs right next to the council, if I recall correctly
