We are very excited about Diablo 3. Everybody is waiting for it but.. What with our lovely D2? Honestly, how many out of D2 players will still attend BN and play D2? What do you think guys? But honestly :P

Depends. I'm sure there will still be playing of D2 for nostalgia reasons or to play with people that might not have D3 yet...but I think it'll end up being just like D1 is now, unfortunately.

Unless Blizzard finds a way to bring in some new life to the game, more frequent ladder resets for an example.

The new battle.net allows us to download the "game client" directly from our account, after adding our CD-Keys, so that's one step closer to more players.

I can't say for sure, but I'm sure that i will return, if i get the time to play. Another thing to keep in mind, is that Diablo 1 had a lower resolution, along with a few other annoyances.

There is a few things indicating, that blizzard is considering how to keep their past titles alive, such as the continiued battle.net support.

One thing I'm almost sure about, is that we won't experiance the game like it was when everyone where newbies, and that was quite unique.

D3 will not be an MMO. This was established some time back.

Also moved this thread to general Diablo 3 discussions.

You don't want the resets to be to frequently. It would then become more of an annoyance than anything, IMO.

As far as it not being an MMO, thank goodness for that. D2 wasn't, so why would they start that with D3?

More frequent ladder resets wouldn't bring anything new to the table, like say.....and entire new game?

D2 will end up exactly like d1 is now, outside of a few private servers with a scarce community of people that just couldn't move on or found the pvp horrible.

That small little (less than 1% perhaps?) of the game that was bright doens't mean the entire game is all bright colors, rainbows and unicorns. I wonder when people like you will stop complaining about something you know next to nothing about. Besides Blizzard allready showed off areas where it is darker, and guess what it wasn't in the middle of the day in a forest! Or well it was kinda a forest, but still there was rotting corpses and what not all over.

Besides the comparison between D2 and D3 about D2 being a lot darker, well D2 wasn't all dark and scary. Almost entire act 1 was outside in a forest, sure it was raining and stuff, but don't you want some variations? I'm sure we get that in D3. More or less entire act 2 except for the tombs was in a bright sunlit desert. Act 3 was getting darker, and so did act 4. Act 5 was brighter again until you neared the end.

So because 1 part of a gameplay trailer is in a green sunlit forest doesn't mean the rest of the game is like that... -.-

NOWAI, DARKAR D3 OR GEE TEE EFF OHI think I'll make a guide for people like that.

1: Look in the toolbox.
2: Pull out hammer.
3: Smash your monitor/screen.
4: Enjoy your darker D3.

I know of a much less violent way:
1. Scan your keyboard for Brightness buttons.
2. Hit the one on the left till it fits your darkness needs.
3. (Or look in the Diablo 2 "Options", and turn it down there.)

My only fear is that D3 is going to take so long to finish, that I'll be too busy to be able to play it by then. Aside from that, if it was the exact same game as D2 but with modern graphics and a bigger and better approach to storage, then I'd pay 5x's the price. Hell, the quests could even be almost the same. I only started playing this in late '08 and a game hasn't took me over like that since the original Nintendo days.

I'm a fan for life. I don't care what they do. I just hope they do it fast.

I think i will do the same as everyone else. Buy d3 and try it, if its the tits then im making the switch, if not its back to d2. Besides i think the best part of an online game like this is the rush for exp, items, and quests. When everyone has nothing and is trying to get everything. Just like when ladder resets. No rushes lol

my only fear is if it comes out before i finish my college medical classes. i might have to drop out so i will have more time to play.

The world coming to an end could be an issue also, but we all have our own problems. It would be nice to enjoy the game before everything goes to crap. OIOIO

As far as it not being an MMO, thank goodness for that. D2 wasn't, so why would they start that with D3?

Warcraft wasn't before World of Warcraft, either. And the why would they change to mmo design is simple, money. Look at what Blizzard got out of WOW and really, it's actually quite a shock that they have gone back to non-MMO title design at all. My guess is that WOW subscription numbers are actually on the downward trend and they've just been hiding it while developing these huge titles, it's obvious they were keeping the Starcraft and Diablo franchises in reserve knowing that doing anything with them would be sure-sells. But why do them until they had milked WOW as much as possible, that was vastly bigger regular incoming money.

I think we still have to be careful about "Blizzard said it won't be MMO, so it won't." To me if charged updates are involved or having to find groups of 20 or 40 people to do things in game become involved, then it's the same thing, even if there isn't a monthly fee per se.

I would return to d2. im nto sure how much but i will for sure.
