where is the best place 2 find high lvl runes? also can i start a game with a hell char who hasnt beat the countess, then exit n reenter with a ik barb who is a lot higher in lvl and has killed her 4 a better drop with ik barb???

There is no best place to find HR`s. It`s all about percentages, so if you wish to find or make HR`s, the fastest legit way is one of these three:

1) Kill Hell Countess and cube the runes you find until you get what you want.

2) Council members have the highest %-chance of dropping a HR, although it is still very small. Therefore running Hell Travincal should be a way of getting HR`s.

3) Don`t bother with trying so hard to find one. Kill the most monsters you can in the shortest span of time. In other words, have fun and it will happen when it happens =)

Hell Hephaesto actually has a pretty good chance to drop high runes too.

As to the OP's original question, no, the IK barb won't get a better drop. But running Countess is fairly lucrative normally so...

what level is the break point between a HR and non HR's? is a level 99 hr (zod i think) worth more than the level 50-60 ones?

err.. "high runes" are basically vex and above.. it's not based on character level or item level or anything...

basically, any runes that ppl want the most will be hrs. D2 adaptive economy ftw!

-Hell Countess for runes up to Ist
-Hell Arcane Sanctuary (rumours said that the Ghosts there has the high potentials & chances to drop high runes)
-Hell Lower Kurast for Bers and Surs (and many more unexpected one ;))
-Hellforge (for Nightmare & Hell)
-Hell Pindle (perhaps? who knows, he might give you alot of surprise :p)

Apparently Hell Cows is the best place for HRs, merely for the reason that they have high mLvls and there's a whole lot of them at a time, though the best I've found there is a Ko rune.
